  • 7 Oct 2010 in National Assembly: Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, we have realized that the eight water services boards that we created as a Ministry are still making it very difficult for many people to access the services. By using the new Constitution, we have formed a team to see how we can increase the number of water services boards in the country. In this case, we are proposing to have 12 water services boards. That way, for the 47 counties, every four counties will have one service board. That is in the process. view
  • 7 Oct 2010 in National Assembly: Yes, Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir. There will be consultation because I cannot do it from my office or just sitting in a board room. Among the stakeholders will be Members of Parliament. view
  • 6 Oct 2010 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, I beg to reply. I apologise that the hon. Member does not have a copy of the written answer, but I will table it in a moment. view
  • 6 Oct 2010 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, I thought he had already received. So, I do not have any extra copy. view
  • 6 Oct 2010 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, I can give the reply fairly slowly. He is sharp and he will be able to understand it. view
  • 6 Oct 2010 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, I beg to reply. (a) My Ministry, through the National Water Conservation and Pipeline Corporation (NWCPC) and Tanathi Water Services Board, has constructed six dams and eleven sub-surface dams in Kitui West Constituency with the dams’ total capacity being about 47 cubic metres of water. That is about 47 million litres of water. I have the list here, which I will table. (b) My Ministry in this financial year has allocated a total of Kshs6,999,467 for construction of new earthdams and sub-surface dams and desilting of existing ones in Kitui West Constituency. view
  • 6 Oct 2010 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, can it be done right away? view
  • 6 Oct 2010 in National Assembly: On a point of order, Mr. Speaker, Sir. Is it in order really for somebody just to raise that point of order when we know that, that bag belongs to hon. Chepchumba who was just sitting next to them there? I think this is a way of belittling what we are doing in this House. Really, we must be protected. We know that some hon. Members do not want us to come with our bags into the Chamber. Let it be taken back! view
  • 6 Oct 2010 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, we are each other’s keeper. I am sure even the gentleman sitting next to that bag knows the owner very well and he should have stood up to say that he knows the owner and protect it, because we are each other’s keeper, instead of raising that frivolous point of order. view
  • 29 Sep 2010 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, I beg to reply. Tenders for construction of an additional water treatment plant at Kegati have been evaluated and the works will cost Kshs68 million, which my Ministry will be financing from this financial year until it is completed. Construction started on 13th August, 2010 and is expected to be completed by June, 2011. The new plant will increase water production from the present 6,000 cubic metres to 18,000 cubic metres per day. view
