  • 1 Jul 2010 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, the hon. Member’s observation is right, that this is not enough. But we have more resources now in irrigation this year than we have had before and I am sure we are going to look again at the allocations for all these projects, so that we can do meaningful irrigation programmes in the country. view
  • 1 Jul 2010 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, yes, that could be done by local people, but quite honestly, irrigation programmes in the country had died. We are resuscitating them and now involving the communities. But most importantly, we are now moving away from flood irrigation to drip irrigation which has not been the case in the country. • 1 Jul 2010 in National Assembly: really need to get consultants to actually build the capacity of the communities, so that they can undertake the work when they move out. view
  • 1 Jul 2010 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, the Ministry of Water and Irrigation and the Ministry of Agriculture really belong to the same sector. It is just a matter of co- ordinating and ensuring that the produce that we get can also be marketed. However, they are already on the ground and the National Irrigation Board is going to ensure that this work is done and the money spent properly. view
  • 31 Mar 2010 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, it is not a point of order. I would like to contribute. view
  • 31 Mar 2010 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, I stand to support hon. Mugo’s amendment as it is. view
  • 31 Mar 2010 in National Assembly: I want to oppose the Attorney-General’s amendment. I do so, because as doctors in this Chamber know what happens, my experience has been that any time a woman has a problem and gets to a hospital or doctor, they do not ask a question. They go straight to save the woman’s life. This is the way it has got to be whether it is in law or not. That is what happens. So, I want to oppose the Attorney-General’s amendment and support what hon. Mugo has proposed. view
  • 8 Dec 2009 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, first, I would like to apologise that the hon. Member has not been given a written answer. Maybe, after I have answered, I will give him a copy. Otherwise, I apologise once again. Mr. Speaker, Sir, I beg to reply. (a) In the last financial year 2008/2009, the Ministry carried out the following:- (i) We rehabilitated Olonguruone Water Supply at a cost of Kshs2 million. We drilled, equipped and did a replacement of a borehole in Keringet Town at a cost of Kshs2 million. (ii) We rehabilitated Keringet Dam with a storage capacity of 27, 000 cubic ... view
  • 8 Dec 2009 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, I accept the invitation, but on condition that the hon. Member protects the water catchment areas. view
