  • 29 Jun 2010 in National Assembly: asked the Minister for Education:- (a) whether he could indicate per-school and per-division teacher vacancies in Kuresoi District; and, (b) what immediate steps he will take to reduce staffing shortfalls in the district. view
  • 29 Jun 2010 in National Assembly: I want to thank the Assistant Minister for attempting to respond to my Question, but I am concerned that instead of him giving me the immediate steps he will take to really reduce staff shortage in Kuresoi, he tells me he will recruit 20 teachers every year so as to fill the shortage. This will take about 20 years for the shortage to be filled in Kuresoi. I am not happy that he is telling me that the situation is comparable to the one in America. It does not sort out my issue at all. view
  • 29 Jun 2010 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, I am really not satisfied with the Assistant Minister’s answer. Could he, at least, consider allowing the neighbouring districts with excess teachers to move them to Kuresoi? This is because there are many teachers who have sought to be transferred to Kuresoi. For him to tell us that he will merge the schools- -- Most of the schools are ten kilometers apart. How will he merge them and yet there are pupils in those schools? I am not happy at all with the Assistant Minister’s response. view

  • 15 Jun 2010 in National Assembly: asked the Minister of State for Immigration and Registration of Persons:- (a) how many people have applied for and been issued with national identity cards in Kuresoi District from January, 2010 to date; and, (b) what measures he will adopt to speed up the registration of persons and issuance of national identity cards in the district. view
  • 15 Jun 2010 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, the Minister has tried to answer the Question, although he did not really answer it fully. I am concerned that Kuresoi does not even have a fully-fledged district or registration office. It is served from the neighbouring district. I would have expected the Minister to confirm that he is going to send a district registrar of persons today. I know that he is so efficient and he can do that. Secondly, there are so many Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) who are living in camps, who have really no access to these services. Could the Minister assure ... view
  • 15 Jun 2010 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, let me simply ask the Minister to continue doing the good work he is doing. view
