  • 6 Oct 2021 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, for the opportunity. I would like to support the Motion on the Ratification on the Agreement amending the Air Transport Agreement between Kenya and the USA. This will have a great multiplier impact on our economy. One of the key things that we need to note is that Kenya and the USA have come a long way in helping each other in many aspects. There are so many Kenyans living in the USA and also Americans living in Kenya who really strain when they travel between the two countries. Most of the time, they ... view
  • 6 Oct 2021 in National Assembly: There are so many other things that I can speak to in terms of tourism. Our tourism needs to be boosted at the moment. It contributes 12 per cent to our GDP. If we ratify this Agreement, we will experience many benefits. Majority of our tourists do not prefer coming to Kenya because they have to go through Europe or other destinations to reach the country. If we ratify this, I will be excited to see American Airlines and other airlines in America flying directly to Kenya from the USA instead of going through other countries. Lastly, because I do ... view
  • 6 Oct 2021 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, for giving me the opportunity. Let me thank the Committee for the wonderful protocols they are bringing to the House. I support the ratification of this Protocol to the African Charter on Human Rights of older people and people with disabilities. Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, you will recall that an elderly person at home or anywhere is a living treasure. Personally, I am lucky to have a grandmother who is 116 years old. She brings a lot of joy in the family. Who am I to object the ratification of any protocol that is ... view
  • 6 Oct 2021 in National Assembly: this House. One of the key issues we need to note as we ratify this Protocol is that we need to have constant legislation and reporting on these protocols on yearly basis. I am happy to note that nine countries have signed it. Let Kenya become the first one to ratify it and I will be very happy. There are many advantages of ratifying this Protocol. It will avoid stigmatisation of these people. It will also do away with the abuse and discrimination of their rights as human beings. Let me take this opportunity to thank Hon. Kibaki for giving ... view
  • 18 Aug 2021 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Speaker. I rise to support this Petition by the students. The way it has drawn so much attention from Members is a clear indication that many students are really suffering. From the outset, I empathise with the parents who have been straining during these tough economic times. Educating your children for so many years and then they end up having fake certificates is not acceptable. I join the rest of the Members in condemning this issue. Let the university chancellor who was responsible for that be brought to book. We would like to see justice served to ... view
  • 11 Aug 2021 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Speaker for giving me this opportunity. On behalf of my people, the people of Mwingi West and friends, I mourn the passing on of Hon. George Nthenge. This man was born the same year with my grandfather. I recall an incident in 1978 when his children passed away. My mum is the one who told me. The late Hon. Nthenge went through very difficult time then and this takes a special heart for any man to survive losing nine Members of the family. The electronic version of the Official Hansard Report is for information purposesonly. A certified ... view
  • 11 Aug 2021 in National Assembly: The late Hon. Nthenge will be remembered by many of the people he interacted with as a courageous, humble and very generous person. I recall in 2017 when I came to this House when I first met him physically, he looked very composed and was very helpful to young legislators. We recall that the cause of his death was due to COVID-19. Let me take this opportunity to tell Kenyans that this disease is real and we need to take extra steps of protecting our elderly from it. view
  • 11 Aug 2021 in National Assembly: With those few remarks, may the late Hon. George Nthenge rest in peace. I thank you. view
