  • 25 Jun 2009 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, first, I would like to thank the Minister for the action he has taken on Dawa Pharmaceuticals. However, there are other companies that have committed worse crimes to us than Dawa Pharmaceuticals. The management had recommended for them to be stopped from supplying drugs to the Kenya Medical Supply Agencies (KEMSA). However, quite a number have sprung up and are now supplying drugs to KEMSA after the Minister took over the Ministry. In fact, three of them are handling supply contracts of about Kshs150 million. What are you going to do to take the same action ... view
  • 16 Jun 2009 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, I beg to ask the Minister for Higher Education, Science and Technology the following Question by Private Notice. (a) Is the Minister aware that Kenyan students on scholarship in Russian universities are about to be sent home as a result of economic difficulties facing their sponsor, M/s Universal Education Trust Fund? (b) Could the Government step in and assist the affected students, so that they can continue with their studies? view
  • 16 Jun 2009 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, I would like to thank the Minister for the answer. However, you realize that when these students left this country, they were going to study. All they expected and even their parents expected that they would come back having got their degrees; now we want them to come back. The Minister says they have written to Treasury seeking financial support, why can the Government not make arrangements for them to continue studying there, as you pay for them? view
  • 16 Jun 2009 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, the reason the UEFT cannot continue sponsoring these students is the economic melt down. Could the Minister confirm whether there are other organizations which have sponsored students and are going through the same problems? I believe this is not the only sponsor we have in the country. view
  • 4 Jun 2009 in National Assembly: asked the Minister for Forestry and Wildlife how much compensation had KWS paid to Messrs. Ndolo Kathuva and Mutinda Ngala who hail from Yatta Division in Kitui District who were attacked and seriously injured by a stray leopard. view
  • 4 Jun 2009 in National Assembly: Thank you, Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir. My Question was how the Assistant Minister can improve the post which is in lower Yatta raise an alarm. That was not answered. However, as he answers that, could he consider setting up a KWS post at Kanyangi Shopping Centre which is nearer and can easily serve the whole district? view
  • 2 Jun 2009 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, I raised a similar Question to this one in connection with Kwa Tabitha and Kasue dams which had the same problems. The Assistant Minister promised that we would go to see them. However, my attempts to get him so that we can go and see them have not been successful. Now that he has just given my colleague an undertaking, could he confirm that he would be available for us to go and see those projects? view
  • 28 May 2009 in National Assembly: asked the Minister for Energy what steps he is taking to ensure an electricity service centre is established in Kitui Town to bring services closer to the people of Kitui District. view
  • 28 May 2009 in National Assembly: Madam Temporary Deputy Speaker, I am happy to note that something is happening. However, you will realize that we still have to travel about 200 to 300 kilometres to Thika to apply for electricity. The Assistant Minister has mentioned that they are looking for a site. However, we have not got any request for an appropriate site, which we would have given immediately. Could he indicate when this project would start if we gave them a site for construction tomorrow? view
  • 28 May 2009 in National Assembly: Madam Temporary Deputy Speaker, the Assistant Minister will realize that meanwhile, some parts of the larger Kitui District are still about 90 to 120 view
