  • 27 Mar 2018 in National Assembly: Hon. Speaker, I have been under siege today but you did not notice. I spoke to Baba and he told me my position is safe and people need to know that. Hon. (Ms.) Wanga, are you interested in this seat since I hear you shouting somewhere? We must accommodate each other. view
  • 22 Mar 2018 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Speaker. This Petition is very important. I want to thank the Leader of the Majority Party for bringing up this Petition. It is high time that we put a task force in place to identify what kind of disabilities we are talking about. There are many other emerging disabilities. After we have known that, we can put a clear framework in place. As the Member for Emurua Dikirr has said, it is very difficult in terms of upkeep for people who are disabled. You can imagine my friend here from Kathiani. I was together with him when ... view
  • 22 Mar 2018 in National Assembly: It would be important for the relevant Committee to take this matter seriously and finalise on it even before the 60 days. It would be important if we had a body or an association of the hearing impaired so that they can present this Petition before the relevant Committee. It will be very critical. My appeal to the national Government and the county government is that when it comes to executive appointments, they need to look into this matter so that those people can also be appointed. We are happy we have Hon. Sankok who is a very active member. ... view
  • 22 Mar 2018 in National Assembly: We can move forward and help those people with disabilities. view
  • 21 Mar 2018 in National Assembly: Yes. Thank you, Hon. Speaker. The Petition is timely. In the last Parliament, we passed the interest cap law. We expected the demand for loans to go high in respect to the law of demand and supply. You know, when the price goes down, under normal circumstances, you expect the demand to go up. Unfortunately, instead of the banking industry supplying more capital or money to the people who want to borrow, they have been so restrictive that even the demand has gone down. It is true. Some time back, one of my constituents went to borrow some money from ... view
  • 21 Mar 2018 in National Assembly: I support the Petitioner. In the same spirit of the banking industry, we should also extend it to the micro-finance institutions (MFIs). Those unscrupulous business people are taking advantage by over-charging and making super profits. As such, when it comes to profitability for those Small and Medium Enterprises (SMES), they cannot go anywhere. view
  • 21 Mar 2018 in National Assembly: Traditionally, the Petition should be there for 60 days. Mine is to request the relevant Committee to move with speed so that this issue can be concluded, if possible, in less than 60 days. If possible, we want to amend the Micro-Finance Institutions Act so that it can reflect the interest rate capping. I want to thank the banking industry. I have seen the best lending rates have been reduced from 10 per cent to 9.5 per cent. That means one can borrow to the maximum of 13.5 per cent interest. view
  • 20 Mar 2018 in National Assembly: It is happy hour. view
  • 20 Mar 2018 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Speaker. I rise to oppose this Bill. This Bill, to me, is unconstitutional because it is the function of the county particularly when it comes to transport. Rumour has it that this is an authority to be created and be given to Mr. Polycarp Igathe as the CEO. This will be undermining Governor Sonko. view
  • 20 Mar 2018 in National Assembly: I said rumour has it. view
