  • 5 Jan 2022 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Chair. I wish to support the amendment by Hon. Didmus Barasa on the basis that parties evolve just like history. If you look at the history of Kenya since Independence, we have moved from parties to parties, but there must be a framework. Some of our colleagues who are saying that you must share an ideology have moved from over five parties since 1992 to date. The best thing to do is to differentiate legislators from cows. Cows do not follow instructions, but leaders and legislators evolve over time and make changes accordingly. With those ... view
  • 20 Nov 2019 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. At the outset, I would like to support this Bill which was brought by Hon. Kamket. This Bill intends to cure the loopholes that already exist in the principal Act. If you remember very well, this House has been allocating money to the Equalisation Fund, but the implementation of the projects intended for the money allocated has not been forthcoming. view
  • 20 Nov 2019 in National Assembly: If you remember, in the last financial year, this House allocated sufficient money for the Fund. However, a part of it, which is Ksh3.8 billion, was slashed by the Executive to fund the Big Four Agenda projects. The re-allocation of that Fund by the Executive is an indication of lack of political goodwill to support the ASAL, which it is supposed to address. Two, none of the projects that were supposed to be done in the first batch of disbursement has been completed and handed over to the beneficiaries to date. This House must come up with a better regulation ... view

  • 30 Oct 2019 in National Assembly: Hon. Speaker, on 28th October 2019, an aircraft operated by Silverstone Company made an emergency landing at Eldoret International Airport after one of its tyres dropped off mid-air after take-off in Lodwar Airstrip with four passengers and five crew members. Further, the same aircraft, registration 5Y SMT Fokker 50 on 27th October 2019, collided with an East African Air plane 5Y SSB Kingair at around 7.25am at Wilson Airport under unclear circumstances. view
  • 30 Oct 2019 in National Assembly: Hon. Speaker, on 11th October 2019 the same airline skidded off the runway of Wilson Airport with 50 passengers on board as it prepared to take off to Lamu. Indeed, the Fokker 50, 5Y-IZO aircraft destined for Lamu Airtstrip via Mombasa Airport skidded off the runway on Friday at 9.00 am, plunged into a thicket hitting some trees and breaking part of its wing before being grounded, and tilted to one side. view
  • 30 Oct 2019 in National Assembly: Hon. Speaker, on Friday August 16th 2019, a Safarilink commercial aircraft hit a wildebeest while landing at Kichwa Tembo Airstrip at the Maasai Mara National Reserve. The Dash 8 aircraft, with registration 5Y-SLM, got into the accident during a scheduled service on the Nairobi (Wilson) – Maasai Mara – Nairobi (Wilson) route. Hon. Speaker, it is against this background that I seek a Statement from the Chairperson of the Departmental Committee on Transport, Public Works and Housing to address the following: 1. The safety standards governing airline transport that safeguard passengers and crew members. 2. The routine maintenance procedures of ... view
  • 30 Oct 2019 in National Assembly: Hon. Speaker, I am ready to attend the Friday meeting but from the information I have the Chairperson has invited Silverstone Air. I want a holistic approach addressing the entire aviation industry on this matter. Therefore, we should not deal with it in isolation. view
