It gives highlights of a number of issues which are very critical in the budget-making process. The Government ought to go further and identify more taxable items, so that it increases its tax base and collects as much revenue as possible. The Budget and Appropriations Committee Report also gives highlights on ways of containing inflation at 5 per cent. However, it does not highlight how it will deal with unforeseeable factors that affect Government projections on inflation rates. For example, on the issue of floods, the amount allocated for contingency on emergency responses is so little. view

There is need for the Government to look at the infrastructure as a way of stimulating economic growth. Infrastructure has a tendency of increasing the consumption and development agenda of a country.
