  • 29 Apr 2021 in Senate: amendment Bill, I was also very keen on matters to do with the loans and tax holiday. However, after reading critically, I realised these are sweeteners meant to attract the attention of the youth. It is meant to win them that this is a wonderful document that will transform their lives. However, university graduates who have are employed and can enjoy these privileges, are very few vis-a-vis the number of youth suffering in this country. I would have expected a robust structure that would have helped a greater percentage of youth in this country. view
  • 29 Apr 2021 in Senate: Madam Deputy Speaker, the 42 tribes are fairly included in sharing the resources of this country through devolution. However, the Bill has not effectively represented the 42 tribes, especially the small ones at the Executive level. The five or six positions that have been created in this Bill are only intended to convince the bigger tribes to get into a political coalition so that they manipulate smaller tribes in terms of leadership. • 29 Apr 2021 in Senate: I do not want to belabour so much of what other Senators have talked about. I am concerned with the Office of the Prime Minister. The appointees are the same people who can implement an impeachment. This is an important point. Those powers of impeachment should end up in the Senate which is not among the appointing authorities so that the Prime Minister may get some immunity. Otherwise, if we allow the Prime Minister to be appointed by the President and approved by the National Assembly, they will control that office and impeach the person whenever they want just like ... view

  • 28 Apr 2021 in Senate: Madam Deputy Speaker, I tend to think that as Sen. Orengo has said, it is important for us to ventilate at every stage, either through points of orders or points of information because we being watched by the public that we represent. Our contributions will also shed light that will help make an informed decision during the referendum. Therefore, it is very important that we ventilate more at every stage on the retrogressive and unconstitutional areas of this Bill, so that it can help not only us in the House, but also some of us who do not have the ... view
  • 28 Apr 2021 in Senate: I support that we ventilate at every stage. We should not hurry. view
  • 13 Apr 2021 in Senate: Thank you, Madam Temporary Speaker. I support the Division of Revenue Bill. The Senate is doing great work as far fighting for this money to go to our counties. However, we still have some few challenges that I want to highlight here, right from the National Treasury. If you go to our counties, you will see most of the projects that have stalled and become white elephants, and the governors still complain that the National Treasury has not released the money on time. The Senate is doing well, but the challenge is still with the National Treasury. This delay in ... view
  • 30 Mar 2021 in Senate: Madam Deputy Speaker, why can you not save my good neighbour by allowing these amendments that he is looking forward to so much, to save us from this agony? view
