  • 17 Jul 2019 in Senate: “A Senator commits an act of gross disorderly conduct if the Senator- (a) Defies a ruling or direction of the Speaker or Chairperson of Committees.” If we continue this chaotic and Neanderthal behaviour, this House will become just like any other market. Therefore, give us direction. view
  • 11 Jul 2019 in Senate: Thank you, Mr. Speaker, Sir, for also allowing me to add my voice in support of this important Statement from Sen. Halake. Surely, 20 years after serving in prison is a long time taking into consideration that some people are jailed for a long time. By the time they come out, some are 50 or 60 years old. Staying out there without a certificate of good conduct for 20 years is a very long time. This reminds me about issuance of various important documents in our country. For example, right now, there are many students who are unable to access ... view
  • 10 Jul 2019 in Senate: Mr. Speaker, Sir, I thank you, for giving me the opportunity to welcome all students in the Public Gallery. I thank them for visiting this important House. I urge them to be disciplined in school. We also admired being in Parliament when we were young. Therefore, we worked hard in school and now we are Members of this House. I congratulate the delegation from the Fred Outa Foundation for coming to this House to see how active Sen. Outa is in the Senate. I encourage them to continue supporting the Fred Outa Foundation. Some areas that are represented by Sen. ... view
  • 20 Jun 2019 in Senate: Thank you, Madam Temporary Speaker, for giving me this opportunity. First, allow me, as the Chairperson of the Committee on Education, to welcome the teachers and pupils seated in the Gallery. I would like to tell them that once upon a time, we were seated like them. However, we worked hard in school and most of us were disciplined. That is why we are here today. I wish them the best in school. I ask them to work hard, respect their teachers and be disciplined. I assure them that, one time, they will be in this House. view
  • 20 Jun 2019 in Senate: Thank you very much, Madam Temporary Speaker. I know that Sen. Cherargei is the Senator of the respective county, but thank you for allowing me to welcome them on your behalf. Madam Temporary Speaker, concerning the stalled projects in our counties, I want to say categorically that I support this very important Motion by Sen. Kibiru. First, I would like to encourage that thorough financial audit be done before anything is done on the stalled projects in various counties in this country. This is to make it possible to understand what led to the stalling of these particular projects. Where ... view
  • 20 Jun 2019 in Senate: Once the root cause of the failure to complete these projects is established, I would like to advise that in the good spirit of fighting corruption, the particular people who are responsible, ranging from the contractors---. There is a bridge where I come from which could have provided an economic linkage between two sub counties in Bomet County. That particular bridge connects Bomet Central and Bomet East. I understand that about Ksh32 million had been spent on that project and it was not completed. I understand that the contractors are still getting money from various projects that are going on ... view
  • 13 Jun 2019 in Senate: On a point of order, Madam Temporary Speaker. I want to confirm from the Senator for Nandi County whether we have cartels in this particular House who were discussing some matters earlier on. It is a serious issue for a Senator of his caliber to call fellow Senators cartels. He must withdraw and apologize. view
  • 13 Jun 2019 in Senate: Madam Temporary Speaker, on the first issue facing the universities, we have been following it up. However, I was told by the Ministry of Education that vice chancellors and principals undergo through rigorous interviews and it is no longer the mandate of the Ministry. They have transferred this to the Public Service Commission (PSC). Right now, we are following from there. On the issue of the University of Eldoret, we will handle it with a lot of professionalism, so that we avoid politics in it. In two weeks’ time, we will have handled that particular Petition and be open to ... view
  • 12 Jun 2019 in Senate: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, thank you for giving me this opportunity. I join you in welcoming the students from Precious Blood Riruta Girls School. One time, while I was serving as a principal in another school, we made a benchmarking trip to Precious Blood Riruta Girls School. We discovered that Precious Blood Riruta Girls School encourages moral values in our children. I was surprised that the school did not have theft cases. The students went to class without locking their metallic boxes and nothing would be stolen. view
