Thank you, Mr. Speaker, Sir. I also concur with my colleagues on this Statement. As Sen. Wetangula said, this practice without regulations has opened many loopholes for shylocks to exploit our people and, more so, students. Majority of students today in universities and colleges have resorted to getting easy money from these apps. As a result, they are so exploited. It is my appeal that the CBK comes up with proper regulations and more avenues so that Kenyans can easily access money from the banks. We need to regulate these digital platforms so that we reduce exploitation of our citizens. ...

Thank you, Mr. Temporary Speaker, Sir, for giving me this opportunity to make my contribution to this Statement. I was alarmed last week because of the number of mushrooming cooperative societies where I come from. All of them demand a lot of contributions or help from the county government. Mr. Temporary Speaker, Sir, most of the SACCOs all over this country are facing a lot of leadership challenges. SACCO with the same members but with different names. Regulations should, therefore, be put in place to control these SACCOs in their formation of leadership and the number of years that leaders should exist in those positions. Otherwise, some will continue being leaders and exploiting the members for the rest of their lives. Serious attention should be given to this issue so that the citizens or members of these SACCOs are assisted and protected.

I support this Petition to the core. Let me begin from the initials of the Petition concerning the TJRC. It begins with truth. We must pursue the truth of this matter seriously. The Bible says it is only the truth that will set us free. We must debate this Report and implement some of its recommendations. It is only the truth that will help this country. Otherwise, we shall be a country that will continue setting up commissions and not implementing their recommendation. We will never have solutions to the problems bedeviling us, as a country.

Mr. Speaker, Sir, if we do not implement recommendation on truth and justice, the current BBI will not help us much. We must revisit historical injustices in an attempt to reconcile ourselves forever.
