Speaker, I am perturbed by the contributions that have been made, latest by the Member who is contributing, especially in regard to the age of the candidates that we are considering in this House presently. The Constitution is very clear. Article 27 of our Constitution is on equality and freedom from discrimination. Sub- article 4 thereof clearly states that no one should be discriminated against by the State. The State shall not discriminate directly or indirectly against any person on any ground, including race, sex, pregnancy, marital status, health status, ethnic, social status, colour, age, disability or religion. These are people; they are Kenyans. You are now pitting the youth against their elders and we have seen this discrimination happening in parts of Mombasa and Kilifi where the young people are set against the older members of society. They go ahead and kill these members.
