  • 17 Nov 2011 in National Assembly: Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, I wish to thank my colleagues for supporting this Motion. I am sure it will go a long way in improving the activities in the Mombasa port; we particularly look forward to the initiation of the Dongo Kundu and the Lamu Port projects. I hope that a mechanism will be put in place to ensure that there will be fair competition and many more players in this area. With those few remarks, I beg to move. view
  • 16 Nov 2011 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, I am seeking an amendment to the Motion for the Departmental Committee of Finance, Planning and Trade to be included in this Select Committee because we have already started doing some work. I think it would be useful to the Select Committee if we are included, so that it will enrich and not duplicate what we have already done. So, we would like to propose an amendment to include our Departmental Committee to be part of this Select Committee. view

So, I would like to move the amendment that the Departmental Committee on Finance has five Members to represent ... view

  • 7 Sep 2011 in National Assembly: Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, I wish to second the Motion. As of today, the installed generation capacity in Kenya is 1,400 megawatts. Out of that installed capacity, KenGen accounts for 75 per cent, which is about 1,056 megawatts. The demand for energy is growing daily. Therefore, according to Vision 2030 Plan, the amount of generation of electricity in Kenya is supposed to increase to slightly over 15,000 megawatts. Today, we are at 1,400 megawatts. This is basically to emphasize the urgency, need and importance of supporting KenGen to try and achieve the generation capacity of 15,000 megawatts. These three ... view
