  • 23 Apr 2015 in National Assembly: Thank you, hon. Temporary Deputy Chairman. I support the Committee on this rejection. Let it go with the same spirit as in Clause 10 because we have already rejected it. Let us move in the same direction. Equally, this is not about balancing of gender or people from different regions; we are talking of professional The electronic version of the Official Hansard Report is for information purposesonly. • 23 Apr 2015 in National Assembly: Thank you, for this opportunity to contribute to this one. I agree with the rejection by the Committee.I believe that the Committee had sat long enough to come up with three years. They had put their heads together. Therefore, when the Senate reduces it, I do not know if it is for the sake of it or it wants to be seen to have looked at the particular instruments, but I believe the Committee was right to give those timelines because it was well thought out. I, therefore, support, the Committee. view
  • 23 Apr 2015 in National Assembly: Thank you, hon. Temporary deputy Speaker for giving me this opportunity to contribute to this Motion. At the outset, I strongly support the Committee’s decisions and findings. This is not a matter of pushing something and accepting it just like that. We need to have a strong framework to see that this decision is implemented in the correct manner, because in Kenya today, we have a lot of problems resulting from corruption. We need to discourage people who want to go that direction for the purpose of benefitting themselves, thereby hurting the country. view
  • 23 Apr 2015 in National Assembly: Telkom Kenya was one of the biggest corporations in Kenya. It has been run down because of corruption, poor management and nepotism. I believe that if we allow it to go without properly vetting those people who have to do the privatisation, then we might have a very big problem. We need to know how to go about it. We need, for instance, to know what assets are there, and who is running the corporation at present. It is likely that whatever is remaining there now might go down the drain. I strongly believe that what the Committee recommended should ... view
  • 21 Apr 2015 in National Assembly: Thank you, hon. • 21 Apr 2015 in National Assembly: THAT, the Constitution protects all citizens from all forms of discrimination with regard to provision of healthcare. THAT, KAPH has a huge membership across the country and is committed to offer quality healthcare services to all Kenyans to actualise Capitated Civil Servants’ and Uniformed Officers’ Medical Scheme. THAT, NHIF is unwilling to engage and/or to involve KAPH members, who are accredited providers of healthcare, in a structured consultative process that should pave way for smooth actualisation of the said Capitated Civil Servants’ and Uniformed Officers’ Medical Scheme. THAT, over time, NHIF has been unilaterally reviewing the capitation rates downwards midstream, ... view
  • 15 Apr 2015 in National Assembly: Thank you, hon. Deputy Speaker, for giving me this opportunity. I rise to support this Motion. At the outset, I want to say that I will not speak in Kiswahili because I am not very fluent in it. However, I support the Motion so that at least it can benefit other members of our society, those who are not well versed in English. Let us appreciate the fact that Kenya has got so many members of its population who are not well versed in English. When the Constitution is interpreted to them, they do not appreciate or get the nitty-gritty ... view

  • 15 Apr 2015 in National Assembly: language. We can even have Motions debated in Kiswahili on some days so that some of us can also get acquainted with the same. So, I strongly support this Motion. Let it be done progressively so that it can fit into the country’s budget. Other issues which appertain to the same can be carried simultaneously so that at the end of the day it is interpreted. I thank you, hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. I support. view
