  • 19 Jun 2013 in National Assembly: Thank you, hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir. I am sorry, I have spent the whole day in a committee meeting and I have been saying that, that is a slip of the tongue. view
  • 19 Jun 2013 in National Assembly: I stand to support the Motion and thank my brother, hon. Wesley Korir for bringing it. I note with appreciation that our athletes are the best ambassadors this country can have. Their welfare, protection and security are paramount and should be placed in the forefront by our Government, especially the embassies where the athletes traverse in the name of bringing glory to this country. Most countries in the world have good frameworks for supporting their athletes, medically, security wise and for getting them to know how to manage their finances. It is very unfortunate that in this country individual athletes ... view
  • 12 Jun 2013 in National Assembly: Thank you, hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, for giving me this opportunity. I would like to thank Hon. Hassan Juma for bringing this Motion. I rise to support it. First and foremost, it is clear that the National Youth Council was established in 2009 and gazetted in 2012, after a spell of three years. After gazettement, the Council complied with all the requirements in order for it to be registered. The process was completed and it met all the provisions of the Act. It beats logic as to why the Treasury should still be holding that money, instead of giving it ... view

  • 22 May 2013 in National Assembly: Thank you, hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir. I rise to support this Motion. Allow me to congratulate my friend, hon. Chachu, for bringing this Motion. That is because there are so many teething problems as far as tourism is concerned in this country and, especially, with regard to wild animals. Tourism is one of the main foreign exchange earners in our country. The efforts that have been put to revitalize the agricultural sector have not been put to revitalize the tourism sector. That has brought apathy where people are killing the animals haphazardly. Once we deplete those animals, I believe ... view
  • 22 May 2013 in National Assembly: Thank you, hon. Deputy Speaker, for giving me this opportunity to support this Motion. I beg to support. As we speak here, the Mover of the Motion, hon. Ng’ongo, was concentrating too much on the fact that fish is only found where there are oceans and lakes. However, it is now a fact that fish is the main food for many people because of its health benefits and availability. Given the fact that food security in this country - as the Mover has said - is already threatened, I believe that the sooner we fast- track the salvaging of that ... view
  • 22 May 2013 in National Assembly: Hon. Deputy Speaker, if you visit the rural areas where there are no lakes and oceans and people do not eat fish, they used to eat cow and goat meat. But now, in the central part of Kenya, they have turned to fish. The Ministry of Fisheries Development has been urging people to establish fish ponds. That is why I support this Motion. We should also think about setting aside some funds to assist people in areas where there are no natural lakes or water points to establish many fish ponds, where they can breed fish. We should also teach ... view
  • 15 May 2013 in National Assembly: I am pleased to contribute to this Motion particularly because it concerns the animal industry which is the mainstay of people in the ASAL areas and many other places in the country. An insurance cover for animals might be a cumbersome process for supporting the ASAL people when it comes to losses of animals during drought and other disasters. I would propose that we amend the Motion so that we introduce a fund or systems which would support the farmers when it comes to drought. We have got technology and people who foretell when there will be drought. The Government ... view
