Thank you, Hon. Deputy Speaker. I wish to thank my brother, Hon. Mutunga, for bringing this Motion. I support it. Agriculture is the backbone of our economy. However, it is the industry which has never been exploited. It has been left to unscrupulous businessmen and farmers who do not have any know-how and are ignorant of what they should gain from farming. Therefore, having the agribusiness bodies will harness all the agricultural products in this country and put them into commercial use. In as much as we support subsistence farming, we also need to put it to commercial use, so ...

Middlemen and the Government have let our farmers down and we should, at least, check this vice through this process. I thank you.

Thank you, Hon. Speaker for giving me this opportunity to contribute to this Bill. At the outset, I support it. I believe my colleagues will also support it. As the Mover said, this Bill came to the House in the last Parliament through Hon. Gumbo but we did not dispense with it. When we left for elections, we met our colleagues who left the House and are out there with the public and communities. They asked us why we left the House before completing this noble task. It was their prayer that those of us who get to the 12th ...

I strongly believe that our electorates out there should understand that we are not talking about our welfare, but that of the former Members of Parliament who are already with them in the villages, market places and towns. They know the lives they live, the abject poverty they are in and their age. I am sure that they also sympathise with them out there. Whoever is listening to our debate here today is applauding or commending us because he or she knows that we have Members of Parliament who are out there who ask for transport from their electorates. This ...

All my colleagues here will agree with me that we are darlings of the people because of the engagements we have with them. That is when we go out there to campaign. However, you are a villain immediately you are sworn in here. Pockets of people form to remove you in the next five years. So, campaigns with your opponents start immediately. There is a lot of pressure as you continue working. Therefore, you cannot even do your things. Many of my colleagues will attest to the fact that they have retained what they had before they came to Parliament ...

We are in several churches every weekend. Some of us have even forgotten our original mother churches. We trot from church to church. We go all over, contributing and assisting people. Therefore, we have no time to even do things for ourselves. Once you leave this House, you will find that you have nothing. You cannot say: “This is what I built from the effort I put when I was in Parliament.” Therefore, we should reward these citizens because they sacrificed between five and 50 years of their time serving this country. At the end of the day, they are ...

Thank you, Hon. Speaker, for giving me this opportunity to comment on this Petition by Hon. Lentoimaga. I stand to support it. Insecurity in the northern part of Kenya, especially Samburu and Isiolo Counties, has become rampant, infiltrating up to Meru. When the KPR guns were mopped up, those with illegal guns were left there and they are now roaming the area with impunity because they know the KPRs do not have guns. The police stations within that area are not enough to cover the expansive area where these bandits roam. So, it is important that this issue is looked ...

Thank you, Hon. Deputy Speaker, for giving me the opportunity to contribute to this Motion by Hon. John Wambugu in regard to the hierarchy of education in this country. I commend the Member for coming up with this Motion to complement what the Government is already doing in as far as free education and transition are concerned. Furthermore, he is putting emphasis on what happens after one is done with secondary level education. This Motion is timely. Currently, in as much as the Government is struggling to see that each child goes to school, gets educated and reaches a level ...
