  • 19 Sep 2019 in National Assembly: I have one, Hon. Speaker. Hon. Speaker, I rise to ask Question No.394/2019 to the Cabinet Secretary for Education: (i) Following the Presidential Directive of 3rd August, 2017, when will Igembe Campus, a constituent college of Chuka University, be elevated to a university and granted a charter? (ii) What measures is the Ministry putting in place to ensure that the said campus is elevated and granted a charter without further delay? view
  • 19 Sep 2019 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Speaker, for giving me this opportunity to comment on this Statement. At the outset, that Statement from the TSC is cosmetic. It was tailored to protect the teacher. In as much as they said the sequence of events up to when the girl went home, that is where they started picking issues to victimise the family or create an impression that the family’s problems led the girl to commit suicide. That is diverting from the original problem of not having sanitary towels. In as much as they are saying they gave the girl some sanitary towels, they ... view
  • 18 Sep 2019 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, for giving me this opportunity to contribute to this Bill. Let me say that today is a relief to Kenyans and especially to county governments because now we are talking about money going to them. But this has been reached after a long tussle and a big pull and push between the Senate and the National Assembly. The picture that the Senate has been painting of us out there has been very unfair. The Senate has been laying blame on this House whereas it is the Senate which had brought about the bottlenecks. Even ... view

When we go back to the counties, most Members of County Assemblies (MCAs) claim that roads should be done by KeRRA, which is a body under the Ministry of Transport. But they equally get a portion of the same money and yet, we do not see that money making roads. Let the public know today that county governments are not disclosing the amounts they are getting to the public to the extent that ... view

  • 11 Sep 2019 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. I stand to support this Bill by Hon. Njomo. It is the right time when we are supposed to stand as a House and ensure that all laws which are passed and assented to by the President are complied with. The banks have taken advantage of the borrowers. For someone to start a business, he or she needs to be funded by a bank so that he or she can better his or her life. But the trend is changing and the borrower is being exploited by the lending institutions. So, it is good ... view
  • 11 Sep 2019 in National Assembly: When this law becomes effective, the banks should adhere to it. It will be good for law enforcers to take into account those who will have contravened this law. You will realise that when this law was assented to, the banks did not take full action to implement it. The penalty of Kshs1 million or a jail term of one year is good so that the banks can learn a lesson. That will also control them in terms of observing integrity in the offices that they hold in those banks. Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, with those few remarks, I beg ... view
