  • 21 Mar 2018 in National Assembly: might be retired. It is immoral and shameful. Even if you are not as active as you were when you were employed, it is only unfortunate that you met the predicament while on duty to the nation! You should be taken care of and the last person to be abandoned. Therefore, the police force needs total overhaul. The Kavuludi team is not helping this nation. They are messing and they are not doing good to this country. They should sit down and look at this force holistically so that it is just not about the force in North Eastern and ... view
  • 27 Feb 2018 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, for giving me this opportunity to contribute to this Bill. I rise to support the Bill. This Bill will go a long way to cure a lot of issues which have been bedevilling the roads infrastructure in the country and at the same time to at least bring harmony and spell out the boundaries and levels which each and every arm of government should go. Currently the road network in this country and the infrastructure for that matter is wanting. The Government needs to spend a lot and also do proper planning and at ... view
  • 27 Feb 2018 in National Assembly: citizens on the ground do not know exactly who should do the road. Therefore, this Bill should spell out clearly who is supposed to do these roads. And it should be known and put clearly that the MP is an oversight public officer who is the eyes of the public and who needs to be told what is happening and when so that when the public demands to know, as the mouthpiece of the public, one can give that information. The Bill is also going in the right direction of saying when you acquire people’s land for the purpose of ... view
  • 27 Feb 2018 in National Assembly: roads or repair them, we should take into account putting up of lanes by the side of the roads which will be used by motorcycles so that we can have sanity on our roads. We need to make it convenient for motorists, pedestrians and those using vehicles to avoid more accidents. I support the Bill and let us pass it. Thank you. view
  • 22 Feb 2018 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, for giving me this opportunity to contribute to this Sessional Paper No. 3 of 2016 in regard to housing and urban development. This Sessional Paper is timely and we need to assess it and more so pray and believe that it will see the light of the day and gets implemented. Before I go to that one, I congratulate the Members who have been unanimously elected by us to join PSC and challenge them to be up to the task and make sure that all the interests and the welfare of Members is looked ... view
  • 22 Feb 2018 in National Assembly: Having said that, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, housing is the most important aspect of human life. We talk of health; we talk of food and then we come to housing. At the end of the day, without shelter, we might be living in the Stone Age where people were living in the bush. In the current world, it is up to the Government to see to it that its citizens are housed – the rich and the poor; the educated and the uneducated, and without discrimination. view
  • 22 Feb 2018 in National Assembly: Therefore, it is prudent that we adopt this Sessional Paper which encompasses and incorporates the planning of housing in our republic and also sets standards which need to have health considerations. Sanitation should be properly addressed. More so, even accessibility should be factored in. We have incidents where fires have broken out and the fire engines cannot access the buildings because of the poor planning. We need to be able to access houses in our areas. view
  • 22 Feb 2018 in National Assembly: We are talking of diseases which are coming up every time. If there is a cholera outbreak in Runda, maybe it will affect the family or few individuals. But if there is a cholera outbreak in Mathare, it will sweep the entire slum. These are the things which need to be addressed by this Sessional Paper. It has put them in place. It is now the task of the Government to implement the same. On affordability of houses, we are talking of everybody getting a house. Let us get not only a good clean house with all the amenities but ... view
