  • 2 Jul 2014 in Senate: Thank you, Mr. Temporary Speaker, Sir. I want to second the amendment. My fellow Senators have talked so passionately about the importance of this coconut plant. Many people at the coast region depend entirely on this plant. I am aware that many children and some leaders of this country from the coastal region are successful because their parents have been growing the coconut tree to enable them pay school fees for their children. At the same time, it is a source of income to the people of the coastal region. view

  • 2 Jul 2014 in Senate: Mr. Temporary Speaker, Sir, that is why I am saying that it is important for the national Government to set aside some funds that will boost coconut farming in the coastal region. When you look at the current situation, we are looking forward to see that this affirmative action has been achieved or adhered to by 2015. That is why it is important for us to have precedence and even set the rules properly. First of all, I would like to congratulate the Vice Chairperson of the Education Committee, Sen. Halima, for thinking about the people of the ASALs. That is the area that she comes from. Education is very vital for the full realization of an individual’s potential, especially for the socio-economic development of this country. That is why when you look at Vision 2030, you will see that education and training is very key to its success. It contributes to the global competition of quality education. ... view

I am looking at the mandate of the UN and one of them is to restore peace in countries which have conflicts. We have seen the presence of Kenya in Sierra Leone where we performed very well and even in our neighbouring country of South Sudan. However, at the same time, young Kenyans in military ... view
