  • 28 Jul 2016 in Senate: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, as the Committee on implementation, we have gone through the report. As we wrote to the Cabinet Secretary in charge we indicated all the recommendations that were made by the ad hoc Committee of the Senate. However, this is a response we got. Yesterday we had our Committee meeting. We agreed that the Clerk writes a letter to the Cabinet Secretary so that he can appear before our Committee and respond to those issues directly. I also agree with hon. Senators that the recommendations that have been pointed out in this statement are general. I have ... view
  • 27 Jul 2016 in Senate: Thank you, Mr. Speaker, Sir. I want to join you together with my colleagues in welcoming the pupils of Marell Academy which is in Bungoma County that is neighbouring Kakamega County. I would want to inform them that this is the Senate, the “upper” House, which is full of brains and I believe they will learn a lot. We are nurturing these children to be future leaders. As a leader representing the youth, I wish them well and welcome those aspiring to join politics. view
  • 27 Jul 2016 in Senate: Mr. Speaker, Sir, it is really a big concern when we talk about the free maternity care for our women and children. The other day, money was raised and I remember Safaricom gave Kshs50 million towards achieving this goal. The Chair should explain to us what is happening with the donations and the sponsorship being given to the Government to support this cause. Maybe, we will still call upon you, as the Speaker of the House, to redirect or even reconstitute ... view

  • 30 Jun 2016 in Senate: Mr. Speaker, Sir, I am not “Kananaiza”. I am Kanainza. Thank you for giving me this opportunity to welcome the pupils from Kawaida Primary School. Being a Member of the Committee on Education, I wish them well as they engage with Parliament. I wish to tell them that their dreams are valid. The Senate also has young people. Looking at their ages, I believe that by the year 2022, they will be participating in elections and the voting exercise. I wish those with the aspirations well to be leaders of this country well. view

  • 26 Apr 2016 in Senate: Mr. Speaker, Sir, that is a new regulation that was introduced by the management of Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology to ensure that before students sit for their examination, they must have paid all the school fees. That means nil balance. Thank you. view
  • 26 Apr 2016 in Senate: Mr. Temporary Speaker, Sir, on my own behalf, my family and the youth that I represent in this country together with Likuyani Constituency in Kakamega County, I pass my dear condolences to the family of Mama Lucy Kibaki. We remember her for the virtues of leadership and commitment that she showed in this country. As a mother and wife, there is a lot to learn from what she did. It is also important that as male Senators talk about women, they should also emulate the same. She fought for the rights of women and girls. On the same note, I ... view
