  • 29 Jun 2016 in Senate: Mr. Speaker, Sir, this Petition --- view
  • 29 Jun 2016 in Senate: Mr. Speaker, Sir, most appreciated. It is good that we go by the timetable. This Petition is very crucial because it tries to give us the direction of what is urban planning and even how to make use of land as a facility. You realise that when urban development takes place, there are other factors that should be taken into consideration and they should expand proportionally to what urban development is taking place. Many at times, you find that even when the facilities are there, they are outstripped by development. It is just like the way it has been stated ... view
  • 29 Jun 2016 in Senate: Mr. Chairman, Sir, the Chairman has given us a list of schools which are connected to electricity in Kacheliba but he is not telling us what happens to those schools which are not connected. In examinations, there is a topic called electricity. If that topic is to be taught in schools and is supposed to be examined, how do you ensure that those schools which are not connected will perform? view
  • 29 Jun 2016 in Senate: Madam Temporary Speaker, I am very happy that you have recognised that I have done something for girls in this country. While I appreciate the welcome that has been extended to Precious Blood Riruta by the Senate, it is important to note that the word “precious”means just that. It means precious, good looking and dignified. In fact, I can use all the positive adjectives to describe this school. I have been to that school. I would encourage members from this House to visit it and see how busy these girls are. Even if it is lunch time, you will not ... view
  • 28 Jun 2016 in Senate: Mr. Speaker, Sir, I rise to seek a statement from the Chairperson of the Standing Committee on Roads and Transporation regarding the status of Wanguru Airstrip in Mwea, Kirinyaga County. In the statement, the Chairperson should explain the following:- (1) Highlight the status of the land which is reported to have been grabbed. • 28 Jun 2016 in Senate: Mr. Speaker, Sir, I thank the Chairperson for issuing the statement. I am happy that the statement has covered contentious areas. Nonetheless, I have a few clarifications. This road was constructed in the 1960s before major towns came up. These towns have grown into huge shopping centres resulting in high population along the roads. It is common sense that when it rains, most people concentrate their activities along the road. There are also motorists who drive fast along this road, especially vehicles ferrying Miraa from Meru. Every other day, there is somebody dying on this road--- view
  • 28 Jun 2016 in Senate: Mr. Speaker, Sir, why is the Government not widening the road? Why is the Government not taking care of the shoulders which are already worn out, particularly between Ngurubani and Kimbimbi? The electronic version of the Senate Hansard Report is for information purposes only. A certified version of this Report can be obtained from the Hansard Editor, Senate view
  • 28 Jun 2016 in Senate: Mr. Speaker, Sir, I was doing my normal duties of ensuring that the roads are well maintained. Even the edges of the road are not marked. view
  • 28 Jun 2016 in Senate: Mr. Speaker, Sir, at night it appears black because there are no road marks on the road sides. We need to know what is happening. view
  • 28 Jun 2016 in Senate: Mr. Speaker, Sir, the answer given is substandard and you should order--- view
