Makueni District is one of the districts with the largest number of primary and secondary schools in the country. Primary schools are more than 1,200 and secondary schools are more than 800. Mr. Speaker, Sir, you can see the frequency of removing District Education Officers (DEOs) from Makueni. Four have served in just about five years. That has got an effect. I think it is very important for the Assistant Minister to appreciate that it is necessary for an officer in any station to stabilize, so that he or she could implement education programmes and policies. That is an example where frequency in the transfer of DEOs has affected the performance of that district. Could the Assistant Minister confirm that the Ministry will come up with a policy to say that a performing officer in a station will stay for a certain period of time before he or she is transferred? view
