  • 25 Feb 2016 in National Assembly: There is also a new committee which will oversee the constituencies while another one will be implementing. All of them cannot come into force without these names being passed by this House. So, I urge Members of this House to look at this Act very carefully again, so that we can implement it with ease once this team comes to force. view

  • 24 Feb 2016 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Chairman. Climate Change is a very important thing. In the past, the civil society was known to deal with matters political. But now with the issue of climate change, the energy and funding is put in place by the civil society. This will be good because climate change is a serious matter in the world today. I support the Departmental Committee Chair and reject the Senate’s position that the civil society should not participate in this the council. I am saying that they should. view
  • 17 Feb 2016 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Deputy Speaker, for giving me this opportunity to contribute on this very important Motion. Most parts of the country are actually affected by drought and my constituency, Makueni, is one of them. In fact, the last El Nino rains that we had, other than the recent ones, were in 1997. In fact, some children were born, grew up and went up to Standard Two without having experienced any rainfall and when they recently saw a lot of water, some were even washed away. Part of the offices would help in, for example, relief distribution. If you rely on the office in Nairobi to distribute relief food using the Provincial Administration as it used to be, at times a lot of food is stolen and it never gets to the intended people. view

I support the idea of establishing offices wherever there is drought, climate change and unusual circumstances in the country, so that the corporation can serve the people and give them food. The law establishing the ... view

  • 11 Feb 2016 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Speaker. I would like to comment on the public Petition on massive termination of employment following the closure of an EPZ company. Many companies have turned into this practice, especially when they run bankrupt or for no proper reasons, the owners migrate to another country. It is time Parliament assisted members of the public to get their dues, especially when they are not able to file a case in court. The district labour offices are supposed to arbitrate those matters. It seems that for the matter to come to Parliament, those Petitioners have really suffered. I would ... view
