  • 10 Feb 2016 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Speaker for giving me an opportunity to comment on the Petition on the amendment of the Constitution. All those initiatives show that there is need to amend the Constitution to make it better so that it may serve the interest of the people of Kenya. When we passed the Constitution, we all agreed that 80 per cent of the document was good and 20 per cent needed to be amended so that Kenyans could be served better by the Constitution. There have been many constitutional amendment proposals with which all of us agree. The CORD Coalition launched ... view
  • 10 Feb 2016 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. I beg to support this Procedural Motion. • 9 Feb 2016 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Speaker, for giving me this opportunity. I would like to comment on the petition on the money motivated crimes. It is a very good thing from a member of the public to petition Parliament to consider such a Petition and make amendments to the relevant laws, including the Penal Code, among others; so that we can sort out such crimes. For example, recently in Makueni, the professionals went out to conduct a tree planting exercise. We have also been encouraging individuals to plant trees because the ... view
  • 16 Dec 2015 in National Assembly: There are a few things to note as far as forest conservation is concerned; most families in the rural areas use firewood every day. It is estimated that they use a minimum of 10 to a hundred kilos of firewood daily. This means that a tree is lost to a family every day without being replaced. Therefore, a general policy and law to guide re-afforestation is very important. view
  • 16 Dec 2015 in National Assembly: The other issue is protection of indigenous trees. We need to protect them so that we not only have exotic trees. Most of the indigenous trees grow naturally. In some countries of the world the indigenous forest cover is high and the desertification is checked. view
  • 16 Dec 2015 in National Assembly: This will protect the Ozone layer thus reducing the warming effect in the world. Global warming leads to a lot of calamities such as El Nino which we are experiencing now, among other things. Therefore, this law is very important because it is going to check a lot of things relating to the environment. view
