  • 19 Nov 2020 in National Assembly: Hon. Deputy Speaker, I have been on the intervention button for quite some time. Is it in order for Hon. Mbadi to impute improper motive against the Governor of Nairobi City County and even giving names on the Floor of the House, while he is aware that he is already in court on some of the matters? He also had an agreement with the President. Is he making it better by calling the Governor names here, while we know that he was elected by over a million people? view

  • 19 Nov 2020 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. Under Article 132 of the Constitution, one of the matters the President is expected to report on is any threat facing the nation. The President reported COVID-19, which is not only affecting Kenya but the whole world. It has affected every system of finance, business, education and governance. A lot of people have died of COVID-19. In fact, the second surge is more dangerous world over than the first outbreak. Now, almost every Kenyan knows someone who has been infected with COVID-19 or has passed on because of COVID-19. It is very clear that ... view

  • 10 Nov 2020 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Speaker for giving me an opportunity to condole with the family of the late Kyale Mwendwa. On behalf of the people of Makueni Constituency, we wish to pass our condolences to the family of the great leader. Mr. Mwendwa has been a role model to many people in the education sector and also as a politician during his time when he was a Minister for Livestock. That is the time range management in the country was well advised and executed. We wish to condole with the family. I wish them God’s blessing during this difficult time. Thank ... view
  • 15 Oct 2020 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Deputy Speaker, for giving me an opportunity to contribute on this very important Bill on disaster management. The last time we had heavy rains in the country, efforts to coordinate rescues and food supplies were disastrous. There is a department somewhere in Nyayo House which is allegedly supposed to deal with disasters. When I had issues in Makueni Constituency in a certain ward where floods washed away homes, and in many other parts of Makueni Constituency where rivers over-flowed, it was very difficult to be assisted by the Government. The few officers who were in that office ... view
  • 15 Oct 2020 in National Assembly: Sometimes people have been caught unaware when dams broke their banks when it rained at night and deaths occurred. When things happen, we have to hold somebody responsible. As the elected representatives of people, we must be very concerned and something has to be done at the right time. One of the proposals contained in this Bill is that the Cabinet Secretary (CS) should make regulations once it becomes law, and I believe it will. However, it is not specific which CS is to be tasked with this responsibility. This matter has been lying under the Ministry of Interior and ... view
  • 15 Oct 2020 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Speaker for giving me an opportunity to contribute on this very important matter. This Motion has been on the Floor before. Definitely, there is a lot of improvement comparing what we discussed in the 11th Parliament and what we are discussing now. I want to concentrate on the aspect of corporate social responsibility, which was raised by the Member for Kilifi North, Hon. Baya. When you have something of this nature, corporate social responsibility is very important. First, the Space Centre is in Malindi because of the site’s global positioning. That is the best position for a ... view
  • 15 Oct 2020 in National Assembly: Hon. Speaker, through this House, Kenyans who are interested in space science are now getting informed. Those who did not have this information are now getting it through live broadcast of these proceedings. Many young people now know that there is an opportunity for them to study and become space experts in future. With those remarks, I support. view
