  • 12 Jun 2019 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker for giving me a chance to comment and support this important Motion on budgetary allocation. I want to thank the Budget and Appropriations Committee and its Chairperson, Hon. Ichung'wah for a job well done. I am aware that they have moved around the country to do public participation and they collected ideas from the people. So, these provisions they are presenting are good. First, I want to comment on the Departmental Committee on Trade, Industry and Cooperatives that I serve. I have seen allocations on Kenya Industrial Research and Development Institute (KIRDI). This is ... view
  • 11 Jun 2019 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Speaker for giving me an opportunity to comment on this Petition. This is not an isolated case in this country and there are many leases, including in this city. There has been no clear method on how leases should be renewed, although the law has been there. Actions similar to what has been presented have been taken in many parts of this country. So, I believe this is going to help many people when the Committee considers this particular Petition. We will have a definite direction given by Parliament on how best to deal with renewal of ... view
  • 24 Apr 2019 in National Assembly: Thank you Hon. Speaker, for giving me an opportunity to comment on this Petition. The Petition is quite plateful. Considering what has happened with petitions in the past… One time I brought a Petition which was processed and it went through. I saw how heavily the Departmental Committee on Lands was then burdened to deliver in 60 days. Considering the weightiness of many petitions, probably it would be good if Parliament rethinks maybe on the number of days given. This is because you have seen committees coming here to request for more time because of the activities involved. When it ... view
  • 24 Apr 2019 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, for giving me this opportunity to thank the President for his Speech. The President concentrated on his main areas of his agenda during his term. The most important is food security. Before the rains, food security was a big issue in this country. Even when the rains are late, we are not sure whether they are going to be sufficient enough for crop growth. Therefore, the Government should not stop its effort to make sure that there is food security in this country. The most important thing is to ensure that there is irrigation ... view
  • 24 Apr 2019 in National Assembly: Dam which is in my constituency is also having a slow and disorganised start. We want to make sure that we irrigate parts of Kitui and Makueni which are more likely to be the food basket of this country. That dam will ensure that there is continuous supply of water to Galana-Kulalu Irrigation Scheme which never took off. If we were good at food storage and proper supply of water for irrigation, this country could not be talking about food security. This is one of the areas we need to concentrate on. This area is also affected by corruption. I ... view
  • 3 Apr 2019 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, for giving me a chance to contribute on this very important Motion on appointment of the Inspector-General of Police. We have heard the good qualifications and experience of the said officer. I also want to appreciate the good work done by the former Inspector General, Mr. Boinnet, who served Kenyans very well and in a distinguished manner. You could feel the improved security in the country. The background of Mr. Mutyambai is such that he has dealt with terrorism in the country. This is a matter which is giving the world a very difficult ... view
  • 13 Mar 2019 in National Assembly: Thank you Hon. Speaker for giving me an opportunity to contribute to this very important Motion. First of all, the list represents the true face of Kenya. It also complies with the one-third gender rule. There is gender balance in the list. Again, the appointment of Hon. Peter Edick Omondi Anyanga, who was with us in this House, and who has managed the NG-CDF before, gives the board a person with inside experience on how the NG-CDF operates. The NG-CDF is a very important tool of development in the country as it reaches the grassroots and Kenyans appreciate its work view
  • 13 Mar 2019 in National Assembly: The appointment of the board is urgent, crucial and important. We have been without a full board for quite some time. The permanent secretaries or representatives of ministries have been sitting in the board. Despite that challenge and that of having an acting CEO, the NG-CDF Board – which was partial – has delivered very well in the last two Sessions of the 12th Parliament. I believe the appointment of the board is important and urgent. I urge all Members to support it. view
  • 13 Mar 2019 in National Assembly: As Hon. Ichung’wah has said, Ms. Isabel Nyambura Waiyaki, who has been the Chairperson of Kikuyu Constituency NG-CDF, brings in true experience. Chairpersons of NG- view
