Paper No.3 of 2017 on National Policy on Climate Finance. I have been following this conversation the whole afternoon and I am privileged to have learnt quite a lot. I want to bring to the attention of this House the fact that matters climate change are not matters to be taken lightly. I would disagree with a number of my colleagues because when we bring politics into this matter, we lose the gist of it. So, my people have sent me here with one mission so that I can come here and discuss issues in this Parliament for them to realise the benefit around what is available within the county. Allow me to now support this Motion on the Adoption of the Sessional Paper No.7 on the Mining and Minerals Policy of this country. I want to bring to the attention of this House that these minerals are available in the country. My friend, the Member for Mwingi, mentioned that he will die before a kilo of coal is mined out ...

Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. As I conclude, it is important that even as we look at this policy, we also look at the communities that live around the mineral deposits. My county residents and my constituents feel so alienated by the fact that mining is taking place but directly benefiting people outside the constituency and the county. I will give you an example. Today, there is a place called Kishushe where the biggest iron ore mineral deposit is being mined. This is a place that has the poorest people in the county. They have no schools and water. ...
