  • 11 May 2011 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, now that the Minister has said that the airstrip came after ownership by these private individuals, can he assure this House that when they finally compensate these private owners, they will make sure that they also give compensation for the lost opportunity by these owners? view
  • 10 May 2011 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, now that this Assistant Minister was left holding the baby by his colleague, could he give an indication to this House as to when the filling of the potholes is going to happen? Possibly tell us how much has been allocated for the filling of the potholes or for that urgent measure? view
  • 10 May 2011 in National Assembly: On a point of order, Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir. Is the hon. Member in order to speak disparagingly about the two hon. Members from the region that has actually suffered, when those two are equally concerned? In fact, the Minister for Labour went and camped in the place. view
  • 5 May 2011 in National Assembly: Madam Temporary Deputy Speaker, thank you for giving me this chance to support this Procedural Motion. This is because it is of necessity in the sense that we have hit a brick wall, which is a fact. I would like to urge the Minister that the future Bills he brings, if there is anything about advertisement in the Kenya Gazette, we should note that not everybody has access to the Kenya Gazette. He should ensure that all advertisements are made in such a manner that they reach a majority of the people. We are facing many hurdles in the implementation ... view
  • 4 May 2011 in National Assembly: Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, I rise under Standing Order No.76 to issue a Personal Statement. On the night of 29th and 30th May, I and some members of my political party, FORD(K), were victims of a violent attack at Park Villa Hotel in Webuye at around midnight. I wish to make a Personal Statement regarding the events of that fateful night, since it may be a serious threat to my personal security, that of my supporters and to set the record straight in view of some utterances by senior labour movement leadership and distortion of events by a section ... view
  • 3 May 2011 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, with your indulgence, that is a very sad case. The lady was involved in a bar brawl over a bill of Kshs30. They called in a bouncer who roughed her up. She went to the police to report. They came to arrest the bouncer. They went with the bouncer to the police station. The bouncer, somehow, turned the tables on the lady. She was put in the cells, only to be found dead and, possibly, raped. Since then, that bouncer was charged with murder and acquitted by a judge. The judge instructed the police to produce the ... view
  • 3 May 2011 in National Assembly: On a point of order, Mr. Speaker, Sir. Is the Assistant Minister in order to accuse me of speculation when I was just quoting what the judge said? He said that she was possibly raped. I did not say she was raped. I said that she was possibly raped and I was just quoting what the judge said in his ruling. view
  • 28 Apr 2011 in National Assembly: Thank you, Mr. Speaker, Sir. That is the largest ever donor-funded project in those counties. It could have a very major impact on the livelihoods of the people who live there. Now that the project was suspended almost soon after inspection and many projects left halfway undone with a bit of money disbursed--- There was no follow up. Most of those projects have collapsed. So, the issue of revival is not possible. It is a matter of restarting them again. How is the Minister intending to go about restarting them, considering that some of the staff that were separated from ... view
  • 28 Apr 2011 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, the issue of displacement of families at around election time is historical from 1992 to 1996, onwards. Many families were displaced from Mount Elgon and settled on markets in Bungoma. Many families were displaced from Trans Nzoia and settled on markets. We understand that the families that were displaced in 2007 are also equally living in deplorable conditions. Could the Minister consider coming up with a comprehensive plan of resettling all those people, so that it view
  • 27 Apr 2011 in National Assembly: Thank you, Madam Temporary Deputy Speaker, for giving me a chance to contribute to this Motion. view
