  • 15 Jun 2017 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Deputy Chairman. I want to support this amendment. This part of the Standing Orders of the House is very important because in the past we have seen some behaviour which does not match with the status of an Hon. Member of this House. All that is enumerated from paragraph (a) to (k) is very specific so that it is specific and spells out the punishment commensurate to any of this. view
  • 7 Jun 2017 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Chairman, for giving me this opportunity. If you check in the records of this House, I tabled before this House sometime back this year the dispute between KUCCPS and KMTC. This is a very important amendment and we have to look at it very critically. I said it before this House that there is no way this House can appropriate money to the Ministry of Health to go to KMTC and it is spent by the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology through KUCCPS. The electronic version of the Official Hansard Report is for information ... view
  • 7 Jun 2017 in National Assembly: The KMTC Act is still in place. When the Universities Act was brought before this House, the KMTC Act was not repealed. It is still there. It still has the mandate to admit, examine and graduate its students. Even as the Leader of the Majority Party said, the KUCCPS sits once in a year. What are they doing? If you check the admission to KMTC, there are special characteristics which need to be checked. Last year, there was a case where a student who is physically handicapped and disabled was admitted as a nurse. How can that happen? But KMTC ... view

  • 18 May 2017 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Speaker, for giving me this opportunity and for being keen that I am actually ahead of the Member for Emurua Dikirr. I stand to support this Report. Being the electorate of the nominees or those who are going to be elected to EALA, we have more say in scrutinising the process and the candidates and to make sure that we have the right legislators to the EALA. The EALA is established under Article 9 of the same Treaty which establishes the East Africa Community (EAC). Being the legislative arm of the Treaty, we believe that those who ... view

  • 18 May 2017 in National Assembly: When we talk of elections, the submission of a single name, two names or exact names of those who are supposed to be elected without giving the electorate, who are the Members of this House and the Senate, the chance to make a choice from the many applicants is very unfair. About 41 Kenyans applied for these positions to be members of the EALA. We are told by our friends in CORD that from the many applicants, they shortlisted using their criteria and they came up with four names. I think it would have been wise if that was also ... view
