  • 21 Jan 2009 in National Assembly: On a point of order, Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir. I asked the Assistant Minister to tell the House the cost implication of employing these people. view
  • 21 Jan 2009 in National Assembly: Thank you, Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, for giving me this chance. view
  • 21 Jan 2009 in National Assembly: Due to limitation of time, I will just mention one very important point. It is so sad that the Government side would want to stop a very important Motion that touches on the Kenyan people. There is no way we will have two Bills. We are dealing with the same councillors and we expect the Government to work closely with Mr. Linturi and ensure that the Bill is published and brought before view
  • 21 Jan 2009 in National Assembly: 4304 PARLIAMENTARY DEBATES January 21, 2009 view
  • 21 Jan 2009 in National Assembly: this House. We are talking about very important people, that is our councillors. We must improve their pay. We must harmonise their pay. What is important is to note that we have left our councillors at the mercy of the revenue that they collect. As a result of that, some of them get very little allowances. They also do not get those little allowances on time. view
  • 21 Jan 2009 in National Assembly: Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, I beg to support this Motion and request on the same note that the Mover be called upon to reply. view
  • 21 Jan 2009 in National Assembly: Thank you, Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, for giving me this opportunity to support this very important Motion. Thank you again for giving me a chance because on behalf of my Committee, of which none of the members has caught your eye, I would like to make the following contribution. view
  • 21 Jan 2009 in National Assembly: Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, as the rest of the Members have mentioned, teachers are very important people in our society. Teachers have been asking for support. They have gone to the Ministry. The Minister has gone to various places and the last resort or stop for teachers is this House. I would like to call upon all the Members of this House both the Cabinet and the Back-bench to fully support the calls of teachers. view
  • 21 Jan 2009 in National Assembly: Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, as the Chairman of the Departmental Committee on Education, Research and Technology, we went round the country last year to look into the causes of strikes in our schools. From the contributions from my colleagues, we would like the Minister to ensure that this payment is done in one single phase. We know that he has given six years. He went somewhere and reduced them to three. Could he go to the same place and ensure that the payment is made in one phase? view
