• 20 May 2025 in Senate: Thank you, Mr. Speaker, Sir. I beg to move the following Motion- THAT, the National Assembly amendments to the Coffee Bill (Senate Bills No. 10 of 2023) be now considered. I take this opportunity to thank the Senate Committee for taking us through the Coffee Bill. The Coffee Bill (Senate Bills No.10 of 2023) seeks to provide for the development and regulation of the coffee industry in Kenya. The Coffee Bill proposes to re-organise the Coffee Industry by transitioning the regulatory and commercial roles currently undertaken by the Agriculture and Food Authority (AFA) to the Coffee Board of Kenya. • 20 May 2025 in Senate: The Committee took note that the transfer of coffee management to AFA has not improved the sector in any significant way. Therefore, the Bill proposes to re- organise the coffee industry by transitioning the regulatory and commercial roles currently undertaken by the AFA. This way, coffee will have a specialised institution to handle the operative affairs as opposed to the current structure where AFA is handling a host of other scheduled crops. • 20 May 2025 in Senate: We were with the Cabinet Secretary, Ministry of Co-operatives and Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development, Hon. Oparanya, in Bungoma on Friday. He had a real test of the feeling and the suffering of the farmer in Bungoma. We visited Chesikaki Coffee Mills and Musese Coffee Mills. We had about 4,000 farmers in Chesikaki and 3,500 farmers in Musese. The Members are actually raising legitimate concerns. view

Mamlaka imemwingia kichwani. Amekosa kuheshimu Seneti kama Bunge la kuwakilisha raia. Najihusisha na matamshi ya mheshimiwa Mungatana. Kenya hii ina kaunti 47, zaidi ya maeneo bunge 290 na wadi zaidi ya 1000. Makabila yote yamo hapa nchini. Iwapo mawaziri watakuwa wanazingatia maeneo yao na kutenga fedha za kuwatetea makwao, hakuna haja wao kuleta stakabadhi za kupitishwa hapa Seneti. Waende katika vijiji vyao kupitisha bajeti zao. Siku ambayo watataka tuwasaidie pia sisi tutakataa. Tuone ikiwa watapata hizo fedha. Juzi wamekuwa wakiturai hapa tupige kura ziende mashinani tukakubali kwamba tuko katika serikali ila wale tunaowatetea wanatudharau na kutuonyesha kiburi. Sasa tukubaliane na nawaomba viongozi katika mrengo wa serikali--- Ipo siku watakuja kutuomba tupige kura kupitisha Miswada yao. Tukatae kisha tuone ikiwa watatupigia makofi au kutushurutisha. view
• 7 May 2025 in Senate: Nazungumza kwa niaba ya watu wa Bungoma. Wametangaza kwamba wanapandisha hadhi ya hospitali ya Bungoma. Ni sawa, tumekubali. Ila iwaje mtu atangaze fedha za kuenda kwao ilhali sisi tunaambiwa wamepandisha? Kupandisha nini? Katika nyumba zao, ukiamka kuna vitu unapandisha. Katika serikali, bendera hupandishwa. Kwa hivyo, ni lazima watueleze wamepandisha nini katika kaunti hizi zote ili Mkenya afurahi kwamba tunaunga serikali mkono. Hatutakubali upumbavu, kiburi na fedheha tunayoona. Naomba kama Jumba la Seneta, amurishwe kuja hapa. Huko kwetu akija akibwatabwata kitaumana. Sisi sio watoto. Sisi ni viongozi tuliopigiwa kura. Tunawaheshimu, wao pia watuheshimu. Njia ni mbili.
