  • 26 Sep 2023 in National Assembly: Thank you, Mr. Speaker, Sir, for this opportunity. I take this opportunity to thank the Senate for holding Senate Mashinani in Turkana County. We can learn a lot from this visit than when we sit in Nairobi. Secondly, this Bill is important. I remember in the last Senate, I chaired a Committee that was looking at the Medical Equipment Scheme (MES) where governors were forced to sign some memorandum without even doing a proper needs assessment. In that programme, equipment was dumped at various facilities that did not have electricity, water and other amenities. The Government has spent a lot ... view
  • 31 Aug 2023 in Senate: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, I wish to join my colleagues in support of this Bill which is long overdue. This is because the issues of carbon credit are affecting many parts of this country without proper legislation in place. I wish to thank the President and the Government for this particular initiative. For example, in my county, there is an organization called Northern Rangelands Trust (NRT) in Isiolo County. Meru County is also manned by that particular organization. Unfortunately, this organization is giving bursaries to students. The majority of our people do not know where that money comes from or ... view
  • 29 Aug 2023 in Senate: Thank you, Mr. Speaker, Sir. Sorry, I thought it was my turn. view
  • 29 Aug 2023 in Senate: Mr. Speaker, Sir, I am supporting this Motion hoping that what is happening in this country is going to be resolved. Most of us have been in this country for long and in leadership positions as well; and after every five years, the same issues come up. From what has happened before, I feel we do not get to the bottom of the problem. This is because, if we go for elections and someone gets defeated, they should accept defeat. We have seen these shenanigans of high cost of living and the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) year-in, year-out. ... view

  • 9 Aug 2023 in Senate: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, I wanted to ask on Persons with Disabilities (PwDs). I do not know--- view
  • 9 Aug 2023 in Senate: Okay. Thank you, Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, for the opportunity and the Cabinet Secretary for your presentation. Now, there are so many challenges on the ground especially for PwDs at an early stage. At the Early Childhood Education (ECD) level, we do not have a structured way of dealing with PwD students. Is the Ministry planning to do anything at that grassroot level or at the foundation level where the PwDs can get proper foundation to go to primary school? Secondly, placement of special teachers is a big problem in this country. This is because the special students require special ... view
  • 3 Aug 2023 in Senate: Thank you, Mr. Speaker, Sir. I wish to support this Petition. It looks like this is an extraordinary Petition. Ordinarily, you do not expect the community to fight with the church. As other Senators have said, people normally ran to church for solutions. This is unfortunate. The community should seriously look into it. Secondly, whenever there is compulsory acquisition of land, it happens in community land. This matter seriously needs to be looked into. Every Tom, Dick and Harry, feel that they can go to the community lands and take their land without even consulting them. I believe there is ... view
