  • 2 Aug 2023 in Senate: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, I would like to ask the Cabinet Secretary a general question. Before I do that, I would like to congratulate her because this is the first time we are interacting since her appointment. There is a major problem, especially in Mt. Kenya, affecting the people living downstream. The rich block the flow of water upstream. I do not know whether that has been brought to the attention of the Cabinet Secretary to see how she can unlock the issue of water that is blocked by the rich men and business people in Mt. Kenya area, so ... view
  • 2 Aug 2023 in Senate: Yes, Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir. According to me, maybe you are happy with the issue I have raised, now that you are on the other side. view
  • 26 Jul 2023 in Senate: Mr. Speaker, Sir, I have some information to give. First, there was a reason why the President and Members of Parliament (MPs) felt that Cabinet Secretaries should appear before this House to answer certain Questions that actually affect Kenyans. It is disrespectful of them to fail to appear before this House and to the people of Kenya. We have provisions under the powers and privileges where Cabinet Secretaries are actually supposed to be summoned, failure to which they can also be charged a certain fee. We should start doing that so that these Cabinet Secretaries can respect this country. Some ... view

  • 29 Jun 2023 in Senate: Mr. Speaker, Sir, I beg to give notice of the following Motion that the Senate notes the report of the Senate delegation to the 67th Session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) held in New York from 6th March, 2023 to 17th March, 2023 laid on the Table of the Senate on Thursday 29th June, 2023. view
  • 27 Jun 2023 in Senate: Thank you, Mr. Speaker, Sir. I support this Motion. I give a rider on the statement made by the Majority Leader that there is a CoB representative attached to the Senators. I wish the Committee on Finance and Budget Chairperson or Vice- Chairperson was here to take this information back to the Committee. At the initial stage when the Senate was established, we had a lot of problems as far as getting to understand what is happening in the county. Fortunately, as the Majority Leader, Sen. Cheruiyot has said, we were able to know the kind of budgets that was ... view
  • 26 Jun 2023 in Senate: Mr. Speaker, Sir, I stand to oppose this Motion and report. Having sat in this House for some time, I can confirm that all the impeachment Motions that came to the Floor of this House are all political. I wish to confirm that also this one is political. All these grounds of removal of the Deputy Governor of Siaya County are flimsy. First, if a Governor has told the truth that he has interfered or directed in procurement, surely, this is a very truthful person. The best that the County Assembly of Siaya County should have done is abandon this ... view
