Mr. Speaker, Sir, I want to urge all Senators to avail themselves for the Division of the Bills at the Second Reading stage and the respective movers and responsible Standing Committee Chairpersons to be available for the Bills at the Committee of the Whole Stage. Allow me to take this opportunity to remind Chairpersons of Standing Committees to hasten consideration and public participation/engagement on all Bills committed to their respective Committees. As reported during the meeting of all Senators earlier today, we have a heavy workload ahead of us and it is imperative that we all play our part in ...

Mr. Speaker, before Sen. Kinyua, this House passed a Motion on the former councilors which was brought by Sen. (Prof.) Lonyangapuo. I think there was a Bill - if I am not wrong, and maybe the Executive needs to look into that – that was prepared as a result of that but the National Assembly rejected it. They said that it was a Money Bill. Maybe the Executive needs to follow up and get to know what is happening before the Committee on Labour and Social Welfare looks into that and maybe feed whatever information you get into what the ...

Madam Deputy Speaker, before I read this Statement I wish to thank the Committee on Labour. I know there were a lot of praises pouring from Senators to the Committee of Labour and the chairperson; I agree with them. There is also my Statement which I brought to the Committee. I would request, if it is allowed, Sen. Sakaja the matter of Ewaso Nyiro is a very sensitive matter. There are people who have already been laid off, who have worked for that institution for more than 10 years. I would pray, if the Committee can make one visit to ...

Mr. Speaker, Sir, as my colleague has said, there is a big problem as far as our people are concerned in the areas of employment. Individuals, companies and county governments do not follow procedures. If people are laid off un-procedurally, the relevant institutions should look into it and make sure that Kenyans get their rights. A person’s employment cannot be terminated without notice after working for an organization for years. I have a similar situation from my county before the Committee on Labour and Social Welfare where Ewaso Nyiro North Development Authority (ENNDA) laid off more than 56 people. They ...

Thank you, Mr. Speaker, Sir, for this opportunity although I know that you normally do not allow for comments on petitions tabled by Committees. I wish to take the same opportunity to congratulate the Committee on Lands, Environment and Natural Resources chaired by Sen. Mwangi. I went with them all the way to Isiolo for a whole day visit. There is a small correction which I would want him to correct. They have looked at Ngare Mara, but they forgot a place called Burat where the KDF is also evicting people. Thirdly, this Committee has been doing a great job, ...

Madam Temporary Speaker, let me take this opportunity to also contribute to this Statement by Sen. Khaniri. I congratulate him because this is a global issue and it does not affect Kenyans only. We must tell each other the truth. The Government has spent a lot of money in providing healthcare services in this country. I know most of the counties have done reallocation and have been given a budget from the national Government. If that money is utilized properly, Kenyans will be very far. Recently I went to the United States of America (USA) and I was shocked when ...
