He stated that those who are accused of corruption will be dealt with in accordance with the law. In the recent past, corruption has been politicised. I urge the leadership of this country starting with our Parliament to fully support the President in the fight against corruption.   • 24 Apr 2019 in National Assembly: Apart from the issue of corruption, the President commended this Parliament for enacting several Bills into Acts - 22 in number. This was a commendation from the Head of State to Parliament for the work well done but among these Bills that we enacted into the law which was mentioned by the President is the Kenya Coast Guard Act. This Act is very important for this country in terms of security management. It is very critical because it empowers the KCG, which the President launched to undertake maritime law enforcement.   • 3 Apr 2019 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Deputy Speaker. I rise to second. The Committee conducted a very thorough vetting exercise on this candidate. The candidate, as indicated, met all the requirements of the law, the Constitution, the National Police Service Act and Public Appointments (Parliamentary Approval) Act. This candidate comes in at a time when the NPS is undergoing reforms which were launched by His Excellency the President last year. First, he served in the Kenya Police, and in 1999 he moved to the NIS. According to the period he has served, he is qualified. This amendment is key particularly because it takes cue from our Public Service – the selection of various positions like in the commissions and other public service practices. The section which states that the selection panel shall submit two names is good. This gives the opportunity to pick a competitive person instead of giving the governor a chance to select one person who he likes for one reason or the other. view
