• 7 Dec 2011 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, it is my humble opinion that Transport, Public Works and Housing Committee is departmental and not a select Committee. So, maybe that correction should be made. view

I would say straightaway that our National Defence Forces are already doing a very good job in Somalia. We are now asking our security forces to join the AMISOM, so that they can become a peace-keeping force in Somalia. As hon. C. Kilonzo said, this is something which we should have done more than 10 years ago. Somalia is a natural neighbour to Kenya. Any problem in Somalia affects Kenya. • 12 Oct 2011 in National Assembly: Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, I would like to also commend the Minister for a job well done. However, I would like to ask him if the Ministry could make it easier for married women to obtain identity cards. At the moment, what happens is that when a lady gets married in a particular region and wants to get an ID card, she is sent back to her home to bring I do not know how many papers, before she can be identified. But I suppose the husband is enough identity for the married ladies. view

• 7 Sep 2011 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, I had intended to move an amendment basically on the number of wellheads that needed to be transferred from KenGen to the GDC, but I do not need to do that now with the assurance that the Minister has given us that he has already started the process of transferring 59 wellheads from KenGen to the GDC. I want to thank the Minister because he has kept the assurance that he gave the Committee while we were deliberating on this issue. So, I will not go ahead with the amendment but just proceed with my contribution. view
• 7 Sep 2011 in National Assembly: Thank you, Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir. I support the Report fully. There is need to move with speed to bring in the loans that the Ministry has acquired on behalf of KenGen to stabilize and to also increase the capacity of electric power in this country. We all know that all areas of this country are suffering. In Nyanza, we have very poor electricity supply and we hope that with adequate and cheap power coming in through the development of geothermal power, this country will not only enjoy stable power supply, but will also enjoy cheap power. view
