  • 26 Aug 2009 in National Assembly: Eng. Ephraim Maina made a personal commitment to peace. That is what we are looking for. My good neighbour, Mr. Murgor, stated that Amani Forum can play an extremely important role in inter-community dialogue to bring peace. I am sure that he and the Chairman of their Committee know the kind of situation we face every day. view
  • 26 Aug 2009 in National Assembly: Madam Temporary Deputy Speaker, I had an opportunity to represent the Speaker in the Commonwealth Conference. One of the questions raised was: Governments of Coalition: Are they the home-grown African solution?” Speakers from Africa gave a resounding “No”. The question I posed from Kenya was the question that I would like to pause to hon. Members today: Where were you when things were going wrong?” view

  • 26 Aug 2009 in National Assembly: Mr. Temporary Deputy Chairman, Sir, I wish to support this Vote for the KENAO. I want to completely say the opposite of what the speaker before me has said. This is one office that has worked extremely hard to ensure that auditing takes place. If I had the powers, I would have added them more money so that they do value for money audits and audit the CDF money which we are now trying to enhance. view
  • 26 Aug 2009 in National Assembly: I beg to support. view
  • 26 Aug 2009 in National Assembly: Hon. Members, since we have concluded the Business of the House, the House stands adjourned until tomorrow, Thursday, 27th August, 2009, at 2.30 p.m. view
  • 26 Aug 2009 in National Assembly: The House rose at 7.15 p.m. view
  • 20 Aug 2009 in National Assembly: Thank you, Mr. Speaker, Sir. I also wish to thank the Assistant Minister for her very comprehensive answer, except that the Northern Tourist Circuit around Lake Turkana, which she has described in a flowery language and correctly so, is the home of Homo Habilis and Homo Erectus, 12,000 crocodiles; the largest surviving community in the world. What are they doing to encourage investors to open the central highlands, the Sibilo National Park, the Iles Springs Lodge and Angling Lodge that are now desolate because there are no visitors? view
  • 20 Aug 2009 in National Assembly: On a point of order, Mr. Speaker, Sir. view
  • 20 Aug 2009 in National Assembly: On a point of order, Mr. Speaker, Sir. Is it in order for the Assistant Minister to continue misleading this House by saying that the police have patrol vehicles when, indeed, we have always reported cases to the officers, including those that happened in Turkana South, but they never respond? In some cases, the police do not even have vehicles. We have been asking the Assistant Minister to provide vehicles to the police but he has not done that even after promising to do so. Is the Assistant Minister in order to mislead this House? view
