The new Motion now reads as follows:- THAT, aware that Kenyans living in counties in arid areas are pastoralists who depend on livestock for their livelihood; concerned that over the years, pastoralist communities have continued to suffer loss of their animals due to diseases that are preventable; cognizant of the fact that efforts by past Governments to address the problem have not yielded desirable results; the Senate urges the National Government to urgently put in place an effective policy to create livestock disease free zones in pastoralist areas. In the spirit of allowing host communities of natural resources to benefit from the resources that they have always taken care of and are part of, it is in order that such a Motion should be passed.
