Elizabeth won the Kasarani parliamentary seat in 2007, a constituency that was previously dominated by hardened male politicians. She also served as an assistant minister in the coalition government and was ODM party’s deputy Chairperson.

Mr. Speaker, Sir, I rise to support this Motion and state that the drafters of our Constitution did well by recognizing health as a basic human right. Indeed, good health is a human right and now that it has been recognized and enshrined in the Constitution, it is now a constitutional right to all Kenyans. Article 43 obligates the Government to provide this basic human right.
