  • 20 Jun 2018 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Speaker, for giving me this opportunity to add my voice to this important Motion. As County Members of Parliament, our mandate is envisioned in Vision 2030 and our task is to help in nurturing talents. This will be achieved if these academies are put in place. view
  • 20 Jun 2018 in National Assembly: Our youth have different talents but it is lying low compared to other countries. We need these academies so that we can bring out the best that we have in our youth. Looking at our country, we are mainly dependent on agriculture and land, but sports is a huge industry. If we take up these academies, you can imagine how many Lupitas, Wanyamas and Kembois we shall have in this country. We are cognisant of the fact that the talent of sports in the Rift Valley, if developed, could get us more income than what we are getting now. We ... view
  • 20 Jun 2018 in National Assembly: So, I support this Motion. When we have these academies in different constituencies, we shall have national cohesion because we shall have the youth travelling from Mombasa competing with my youth in Kakamega County, Nyandarua and other places. This will bring cohesion in the country and we shall exchange ideas that will help us in development. view
  • 20 Jun 2018 in National Assembly: We know that an idle mind is the devil’s workshop. We want our youth to be engaged in sports so that they can be busy. This will prevent problems such as early pregnancies and gender- based violence. So, with the development of these academies, we shall have a better Kenya. view

  • 19 Jun 2018 in National Assembly: I come from Kakamega County and I will tell you that poverty levels in the whole of western region are very high. When you go to the villages, people are unemployed. There is a lot of crime and gender-based violence because our people have no money. In the past, sugar was the pride of the western region and it is all gone. Our people are there helpless. I think we should take this matter very seriously. We should revive the sugar factories and give our farmers the subsidies that other farmers are given in other regions. Our farmers have never ... view
  • 5 Jun 2018 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker for granting me an opportunity to support this Motion. I think today is a happy day for every Kenyan especially because of the handshake. I come from Kakamega and that handshake has done miracles. If you visit the area, you will find that regardless of ones’ tribe, we are living as sisters and brothers. Looking at the President, he seemed humbled when apologising. When he asked for forgiveness, I saw our country moving forward. As I support the President’s Address, as a mother, I am pained by the rape cases affecting various schools in ... view

  • 5 Jun 2018 in National Assembly: improve facilities in our schools, housing and employing more teachers are lost. We need stiff penalties on those who are corrupt. They should be punished heavily. I also empathise with housing. A mother is the backbone of a family and the President spoke about housing. I am pained because of what happened in Huruma. As legislators, we need to enact stiff penalties against those who construct houses which collapse and kill our people. We need to enact legislation to punish them heavily because year in, year out, houses collapse in Kenya. Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. view
