  • 27 Jul 2016 in National Assembly: Hon. Temporary Deputy Chairman, I thank Hon. Njomo for bringing this amendment. This is one of the best things that he has so far done for the banking industry. There has been mismanagement of certain banks like Imperial Bank in the recent past and other banks since 1996. These fines were not there. Immediately an institution commits an offence, the director sits behind the cocoon of an institution and gets away with it. So, the amendment which Hon. Jude Njomo is proposing is highly needed. view

  • 27 Jul 2016 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. At the outset, allow me congratulate my colleague, Hon. Injendi, for thinking about the village elders. The lowest cadre of administration in the national Government is the village elder. At the beginning of the administration by the national Government, it is important that the national Government creates an image that represents itself. It is important that the national Government gives honorarium to those people to keep them alive, considering the situation at hand today. Without enticing the village elders, the people they serve may end up compromising them, and giving them what is not ... view
  • 15 Jun 2016 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. Allow me to appreciate my very good neighbour at home and colleague, Hon. Wafula Wamunyinyi, for the very good Bill he has proposed to the House. At the outset, I support the Bill. Many would have proposed to have exemption and zero-rating, but zero-rating might not be the proper route. I support exemption because zero-rating the VAT on transportation will encourage administrative costs in managing returns. Therefore, I support the exemption of VAT on transportation of sugarcane. Mumias Sugar Company is billing farmers Kshs1,000 per tonne on transportation of sugarcane. If this Bill is ... view
  • 4 May 2016 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. I rise to support this Bill based on three facts. This Bill will facilitate job creation. It will also check the balance of payment as a result of creation of the jobs that will come from exports and imports. view
  • 4 May 2016 in National Assembly: I also support the Bill because it envisages the drive for the industrialisation of this country. Considering that the Jubilee Government is establishing a lot of Technical Training Institutes (TTIs) in the country, we need to entice the young graduates who will come out of those TTIs to make sure that our country is fully industrialised. Manpower in technology shall also be available. I have a concern with three issues, in respect of which I will introduce amendments during the Committee of the whole House stage. The first one is on Import Declaration Fee (IDF). This Bill suggests that IDF ... view

  • 28 Apr 2016 in National Assembly: THAT, the Sub-county with a population of 137,092 people, as per the 2009 population census, did not produce any recruit to the KDF in two consecutive recruitment exercises in 2014 and 2015; THAT, efforts to have a recruitment centre set up in Navakholo Sub-county by the Ministry of Defence has not yet borne fruit; THAT, the issues in respect of which this Petition is made are not pending before any court of law, constitutional or statutory body.
