• 7 Oct 2015 in National Assembly: Blatant abuse of office by hiring people from one community where we have 13 slots, new appointments and irregular termination of the services of four others from one other community, that is, the Finance Officer, Chief Legal Officer and Chief Internal Auditor. They have also sent one officer in the legal office on compulsory leave. The sacked officers were forcefully ejected from the office without any explanation. view

In this regard, my prayer is for this House to require the Cabinet Secretary for Education, Science and Technology (MOEST) through the Departmental Committee on Education, Research and Technology to give a comprehensive report regarding the issues bedeviling that premier university. view

In the recent past, there have been many issues touching on production of sugar. What has come out clearly and the truth on the ground is lack of regulations. The fact that Hon. Amina has brought out to the Departmental Committee of Agriculture, Livestock and Cooperatives is what I want to emphasize, that we have regulations brought to this House, to set the parameters between new factories and the existing factories. ... view

Temporary Deputy Chairlady, I concur with the Chairman of the Departmental Committee on Finance, Planning and Trade but, I have reservations on 22(A)(5), where he has left an open box to the Tax Appeals Tribunal. It says that the Tax Appeals Tribunal shall hear and determine the appeal without undue delay. I feel that the Tribunal will have a whole time to play around with the process of the appeal. So, my request is whether there is room to pass an amendment that will give some timeframe within which the Tribunal is supposed to assess and come up with ... view
