Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. Allow me to support this Report by the very good Select Committee on Implementation. I thank Hon. Ole Kenta. He took a long flight from the United States of America (USA) just to come and present this Report. That is energy that I must acknowledge and appreciate. The electronic version of the Official Hansard Report is for information purposesonly. A certified version of this Report can be obtained from the Hansard Editor.

Just as the Member for Mavoko has said, I want to weigh the two sides - employing Kenyans and, at the same time, keeping them healthy. The Select Committee on Implementation has been soft enough to allow London Distillers some time to breathe. Whether it is 60 days or six months, that is good enough. However, the Committee should live up to this leniency to again follow up so that we do not go down into issues of climate change which will affect our country. I live in Mavoko and Hon. Makau is my Member of Parliament. I feel happy ...

Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. At the outset, allow me to thank my very good friend, Hon. Didmus, for thinking about the elderly. Although he is young, he has thought wisely that the future cannot be avoided. We are young today but with time, we will be aging. Hon. Didmus, you have really thought wisely for all of us because we are definitely heading there with time. At the outset, I support this Bill. It is a good Bill. It is timely and we should all embrace it. I had a discussion with the Member for Emurua Dikirr and ...

that issue. What happens if in two years to the time of getting pension, a person is retired from employment? Why should that person suffer? We should look at it. When it comes to the Committee of the whole House, we can have an amendment. I am sure Hon. Ngeno is good in that aspect and I will be sharing this with him. Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, we should also look at this: Some people are very young in this Parliament. They came at the age of 28 years but the mother Act says that you can only access pension ...

Thank you, Hon. Deputy Speaker. At the outset, allow me to support this Report by the Departmental Committee on Justice and Legal Affairs. This is just on the simple basis that the candidates themselves merited in their right. They did not appoint themselves into these positions because there is an appointing authority which considered their applications. These people are well placed in this House. I wish to walk the talk of the substantive Speaker, who said that if you come into this House late and you are given an opportunity to speak, you must apologize to the Chair before you ...

My good friend, I gave you time to speak. If you do not mind, please allow me to also speak. Therefore, the fact that a Luhya is not on this list it appears that there is one in the second group. Whereas I agree that we should look at the comparison in terms of the 43 tribes but on this one, it is purely aligned. The immediate predecessor came from the Coast region and the other one also came from the Mountain region. Therefore, in my view, it is important that we support this Report while basing ourselves on the ...

we note what they have mentioned today, we must support the Report. However, they have a chance. We are only eight months away from elections and, therefore, let them reorganize. As we go into elections, let us go and look at how we are going to mix our own Kenya into one stronger nation. Therefore, I support this Report.
