  • 22 Sep 2021 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. The Bill by Dr. Pukose, which I really appreciate, takes cognizance of the fact that we must not market any product over the counter and give it to our people as it considers issues of herbal medicine and herbal products. That is where I come from. In the early days, herbal medicine was the in-thing. Many of our folks did not go to hospitals. Instead, some roots and herbs were taken and they took effect. India has taken the same angle and most of the countries in the world are doing the same. The ... view
  • 22 Sep 2021 in National Assembly: I would also ask Dr. Pukose to allow me to propose amendments in two fronts. One is on the issue of the director-general, whom he proposes to run the organisation. He has laid down several recommendations, but the last one is too general. • 21 Sep 2021 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Speaker. I want to join my colleagues in supporting the Petition by Hon. Mule and other Kenyans. However, I want to take a different dimension. Whereas we would want to look at the issues of taxation, I would like to recommend the Committee to consider the procurement side. I want to speak as a former employee of the industry. I understand the open tender system and importation of petroleum products in the country. There is a big disparity when it comes to the citing of the quotation price overseas as quoted on the price vis-a-vis the out-turn ... view
  • 21 Sep 2021 in National Assembly: The Departmental Committee on Finance and National Planning should handle this element together with the Departmental Committee on Energy. We should not just look at what is happening in terms of taxes alone but from where we get the product holistically until the pump price. Finally, this is a true situation because prices have affected Kenyans. It is important that the House rises to the occasion and resolves this situation. view

  • 11 Aug 2021 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Deputy Speaker. Allow me to support this Petition by the Member for Tana River County. As to what happens in Tana River, it similarly happens to other places. I want to cite a very good example of the Kakamega Forest where instead of human-wildlife conflict in terms of security to human beings, it is causing food insecurity. You will find that wildlife from the forest is invading farms. The farms are no longer producing enough food to serve the people. Therefore, on this Petition, I urge the Chair who is here with us to do a very ... view
