  • 2 Jun 2021 in Senate: function in Kitui County to the National Government, I want to say without blinking an eye that the time has come, that apart from just impeaching governors, they should be taken to court and jailed for theft of county resources. Madam Deputy Speaker, I support the petition. view
  • 2 Jun 2021 in Senate: Madam Deputy Speaker, I am rising on a point of order on the issue of Statements. I made a statement on the Floor of this House more than a month ago on the plight of former councillors. The Chairperson of the Committee on Labour and Social Welfare undertook to deal with that issue within 14 days. The former councillors are now personally approaching Government directly to plead for their case. I rise on this issue because as the Senate, we will miss out on an opportunity to demonstrate duty of care for leaders. When I spoke to Sen. Sakaja about ... view

  • 6 May 2021 in Senate: Thank you, for this opportunity to also join my colleagues to congratulate the interns who have joined us. I will only say three things. One, an internship programme is very important for people who are interested in organic career growth. Organic growth is where you go through the stages right from the bottom to the top most position that you can ever achieve. May I inform the interns that I am personally a good product of internship. I was inscripted into politics and went through a very serious, rigorous internship programme for more than 24 years, sitting at the feet ... view
  • 6 May 2021 in Senate: Thank you, Mr. Speaker, Sir. Before I give my views on which way to go, allow me to join Sen. Murkomen in congratulating and applauding Sen. Orengo for his submissions a few minutes ago and his guidance to some of us, who are young legislators. The Sen. Orengo I listened to this afternoon is the one that I used to read about when I was in school; fearless and a man who says it as it is. For that, I salute you, Sen. Orengo. The electronic version of the Senate Hansard Report is for information purposesonly. A certified version of ... view
  • 6 May 2021 in Senate: On the matter of the Motion before us, yes, we must appreciate the need for innovation and doing things differently. All the time that Impeachment Motions have been brought to this House, especially the establishment of committees, they have been accompanied by names. An explanation has been given why there was a departure from that tradition in this case. Although I am not convinced by the argument put forward, I will be bound by that decision. At the impeachment process of Hon. Waiguru, the Governor of Kirinyaga County, I said then and I say today, that the people of Wajir ... view
