  • 17 Jul 2019 in Senate: Mhe. Tafadhali naomba afafanue. view
  • 17 Jul 2019 in Senate: The Senator for Narok County is inciting me to use Kiswahili Language but I will not go that route. Mr. Speaker, Sir, I join my colleagues in supporting the Statement on bullying in schools. One of the things we must establish, as a Senate and leaders in this country, is that schools are supposed to be safe places for our children. Schools are not places where our children should go and be afraid of being attacked by their colleagues simply on account of them being juniors to the bullies. The electronic version of the Senate Hansard Report is for information ... view
  • 17 Jul 2019 in Senate: I urge the Committee on Education to take this matter a little bit more seriously. The Chairman of the Committee on Education is not even listening but I hope that when the Statement finally gets to his desk, he will establish that schools are supposed to be safe places for our children and invoke Part II of the Constitution on Rights and Fundamental Freedoms. Our children have a right to inherent dignity and the right to have that dignity respected and protected by the school administrations, teachers and fellow students. I thank you. view
  • 16 Jul 2019 in Senate: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, I also stand in support of the spirit of the Statement by Sen. Malalah. I am talking about the spirit because there are aspects of the Statement that I entirely do not agree with. I support that a Cabinet Secretary cannot just wake up one morning and decide to close down businesses. There is an impression being created in this country through gambling that there is an easy way of making money or getting rich overnight. In a situation like ours where the rate of unemployment in this country is high, that is the worst thing ... view

  • 16 Jul 2019 in Senate: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, the verse is actually not the one he quoted. It is 1st Corinthians 10:23. Apostle Paul wrote to the Church in Corinth, warning them against certain things they were doing. On a serious note, gambling is a matter that this country must have a serious conversation about. It is turning our children into zombies and making people believe that they can just wake up one day from poverty to riches. I thank you. view
  • 11 Jul 2019 in Senate: Thank you, Mr. Speaker, Sir, for giving me the opportunity to comment on this Statement. view
  • 11 Jul 2019 in Senate: The Statement has come at the right time. I urge Sen. Halake to consider enhancing this Statement to a Motion because the state of affairs in prisons and what happens to prisoners after they serve their term is a serious matter across this country. view
  • 11 Jul 2019 in Senate: One of the biggest problems that we are facing is that once a person has been incarcerated, even the process of re-integration to society becomes a challenge. They become almost spurious and not very easily acceptable back in society. It sometimes gets worse. Once your fingerprints are taken by the law enforcement officers and you have served your jail term, it becomes a problem to get those fingerprints removed from the system of offenders. The intention of serving a sentence is to correct wayward behaviour and be reintegrated back to society to continue serving it. view
