17 Mar 2020 in Senate:
This is like war. It is up to this House to give hope to Kenyans and make prompt decisions outside the normal. The Government may need funds urgently and it is us to ensure that.

17 Mar 2020 in Senate:
Secondly, we have people in the country who are not capitalists but suckers of blood. Banks should suspend all the hefty interests that they are charging on Kenyans who create employment.

17 Mar 2020 in Senate:
The other day, insurance agencies said that they will not insure anybody that has Covid-19. I find this unpatriotic and irresponsible. It is upon Parliament to bring laws that can change those attitudes. Therefore, I support Sen. Halake’s amendment. This House should not go for recess. We should be on standby and come back once a week. We do not need all the staff in Parliament. We only need those who perform core duties. We call upon the national and county governments to account. We will keep on giving hope to our people. Therefore, I support the amendments.

11 Mar 2020 in Senate:
Thank you, Mr. Speaker, Sir. I rise to support this Statement on the closure of Kibos Sugar Factory. Whatever the reasons that the NEMA may have, they need to weigh it against the national interests. Today, you can see that the life of the people in the whole of the Western belt, which used to be a sugar belt, is very pathetic since our sugar factories collapsed. A place like Mumias that used be very vibrant when the sugar industry was active is today a graveyard of its past and people are suffering. Again, one of the major problems we ...

They should then be relooking into the matter. We cannot keep on waiting for a report for one or two months. We will not achieve much. We would want to see a way of reopening the factory, make it work the way it was, and then look into the matter.

5 Mar 2020 in Senate:
Mr. Temporary Speaker, Sir, I wish to welcome the students of Alliance High School which is a stable of intellectualism and a school of good character. The school has produced great leaders in this country. The motto of the Alliance High School is "Strong to Serve". The boys in that school are taught the importance of serving. I encourage the students to work hard so that they end up in this House. One of them may even end up as a president of this country in future. I hope that the Alliance High School is still as good as it ...

5 Mar 2020 in Senate:
country is facing many problems as a result of lack of instilling good virtues in the young generation. In the old days, teachers such as Mr. Campbell who taught at the Alliance High School were not just ordinary teachers. Those teachers were committed to teaching students. I hope the education sector will create some schools as models of excellence in this country, so that we can have the Kenya we wish to have.

5 Mar 2020 in Senate:
Thank you, Mr. Temporary Speaker, Sir. I would like to briefly welcome the students who have visited this House. I would like to tell them that as young people, they should be confident that one day they will be in this House and may be, become the top leaders of this country. They should aim higher and trust in God. They should always remain disciplined and keep away from any misdirection and dangerous things, for example, drugs which pose a danger to them.

5 Mar 2020 in Senate:
Mr. Temporary Speaker, Sir, I support what the Committee on Justice, Legal Affairs and Human Rights has done. The issue of extrajudicial killings has been historical in the country. A country like Kenya, which has a disciplined force, should not be witnessing these kinds of things. The issues of extrajudicial killings are happening all over.
