I beg to move the following Motion- THAT, the Senate adopts the report of the Mediation Committee on the Land Value Index Laws Bill (National Assembly Bills No.3 of 2018) laid on the Table of the Senate on Wednesday, 10th July, 2019, and pursuant to Article 113 of the Constitution and Standing Order 161 (3) of the Senate Standing Orders, approves the mediated version of the Bill. The Committee was established to develop a version of The Land Value Index Laws (Amendment) Bill (National Assembly Bill No.2 of 2018) that would be presented to both Houses for approval, as provided for under the National Assembly Standing Order No.149(6) and the Senate Standing Order No.161(3).   • 11 Jul 2019 in Senate: The Mediation Committee was formed, and Members met and agreed on the version of the Bill. Before we agreed, we had to deliberate on matters. The first meeting was held on 11th June, 2019. The Committee deliberated on the contentious clauses, and Members unanimously agreed on a version of the Bill to be presented to both Houses for approval. The agreed version of the Bill is appended to this Report. view
  • 11 Jul 2019 in Senate: We had about three meetings before we developed a final version. In all the three meetings, the main contentious issue was the title of the Bill. Eventually, we agreed on the title of the Bill. We did not agree with the title of the Bill the way it was brought to the Senate, and changed it to Land Value (Amendment) Laws. Kenya Academy in Nyeri. Keep up your good work. Mt. Kenya Academy is one of the best schools in this Republic. It was started by a family of a Mr. Mwangi.   • 4 Jul 2019 in Senate: would like to note that the pupils of Mt. Kenya Academy come from other areas apart from Nyeri County. This school admits pupils from all over Kenya and all tribes in this country. It is a multi-ethnic school because in Nyeri, we believe in co-operating with others. view
  • 4 Jul 2019 in Senate: We are extremely proud of this school. I wish the students keep up that banner. We in Nyeri will do all that is necessary to assist these pupils to achieve their goal. One day they should be in this House articulating the issues of Nyeri and Kenya at large. view
