  • 16 Oct 2018 in Senate: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, let us get currencies which are friendly to our disadvantaged members of society. I laud Sen. Mwaura for fighting for the rights of the less disadvantaged among us. view
  • 16 Oct 2018 in Senate: Thank you, Mr. Speaker, Sir. I beg to lay the following Paper on the Table of the Senate, today Tuesday, 16th October, 2018. Report of the Standing Committee on the Energy Bill (National Assembly Bills No.50 of 2017). view

  • 11 Oct 2018 in Senate: Thank you, Mr. Temporary Speaker, Sir, for giving me this opportunity. On behalf of the people of Nyandarua County, my family and myself, I want to my express condolences to the families of those who lost their loved ones. This is yet another very sad matter where we have to lose lives because of careless driving. It is time that we trained PSV drivers. They should have some basic training. It is not necessarily that they have to be trained on how to drive, they already know how to do so. However, they have to be trained on issues of ... view
  • 2 Oct 2018 in Senate: Thank you, Mr. Speaker, Sir. I also rise to add my voice to this debate. To me, the visit was a good event. I also congratulate Sen. (Prof.) Kamar for having arranged this visit. Our greatest achievements in Uasin Gishu County was that maize farmers were paid. However, we should ask ourselves how many other Kenyan farmers are suffering. We did not have to go to Uasin Gishu County for farmers to be paid. I wish we could have pushed their payment from here. If we say that this will be our modus operandi, then we will end up dealing ... view
  • 2 Oct 2018 in Senate: Thank you, Mr. Speaker, Sir. I was also very impressed by the people of Uasin Gishu County. They are very united, organised and hard working. We saw many development projects in that area and I encourage them to keep it up so that they can be emulated by others. I congratulate Sen. (Prof.) Kamar, Sen. Cheruiyot and the people of Uasin Gishu County. I hope we have more and more opportunities to visit many counties. The electronic version of the Senate Hansard Report is for information purposes view
  • 26 Sep 2018 in Senate: Thank you, Mr. Speaker, Sir. I rise to add my voice to this Statement. Frustrating pastoralists is an inhuman act. These people go through hardships and it would be expected that a situation that we are being informed about should not even arise. I want to point out that we have a bigger issue; the issue is not just the payment. During the colonial days, the Kenya Meat Commission was a very successful corporation. It was taken over, but continued being successful. Somewhere along the line, the rain started beating us, and this particular industry has never picked. In the ... view
  • 26 Sep 2018 in Senate: In the former Central Province, the coffee we are producing is only 15 per cent of what we used to produce in the 1970s. Coffee used to be the major foreign exchange earner, but not anymore. Something needs to be done in this country. This is an agricultural country. God gave us good soils, enough rain and sunshine all the year round. You can grow any fruits and vegetables four times a year. Therefore, this is an important thing for the country. Unfortunately, we do not have the answers, but we used to have. We had the expertise. This issue ... view
  • 26 Sep 2018 in Senate: On a point of order, Mr. Speaker, Sir. This is a weighty matter affecting the citizens of this country. As I said, it is not just about what you called “range ranching.” I am a victim because I have to sell cows to some butcheries--- view
