  • 13 Sep 2018 in Senate: Madam Temporary Speaker, I rise to express my disgust and sympathies to the family of Sharon. I also extend my sympathies to the mother who lost her daughter. The case of that girl is not isolated. What we are witnessing in this country--- Let everybody start interrogating about our society; starting with church leaders and the leaders that we have. We should ask ourselves what is going on in our society. We need to know what has led Kenyans to this state because hardly a day ends without issues. When you look at the television--- view
  • 13 Sep 2018 in Senate: Madam Temporary Speaker, I must say that I am expressing the sorrow, disgust and concern about our society. Our morals are eroded. Corruption is being fought because these are the kinds of things that lead to that. So, there are other underlying issues. I dare say that today most Kenyans have mental imbalances. To be able to do that, somebody must be in mental imbalance. I hope that we will look at our laws. I thank the Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI) for moving--- view

  • 9 Aug 2018 in Senate: On a point of order, Mr. Speaker, Sir. The hon. Senator has said that he would have expected the sentiments of Sen. Khaniri to have come from the Chairperson of the Committee on Energy. The Senator is ignorant of what we have been doing, as a Committee, and what we are going to report to this House. This should not be a basis for him to come here and criticize our Committee through the Chairperson. As you are aware, Mr. Speaker, Sir, I intend to make comments and tell this House about the Energy Bill and the concerns he has ... view
  • 9 Aug 2018 in Senate: Thank you, Madam Temporary Speaker. I rise to second this Bill which seeks to streamline and lay grounds for provision of power in the future. The matter has been interrogated very well by our able Senate Majority Leader. Being a lawyer, he has gone further to add more to the Bill. I would like to enlighten this House on some of the issues that are being addressed in this Bill. The Bills seeks to streamline energy to be in conformity with the Government’s Big Four Agenda. For this country to be industrialized, we must have energy that is affordable and ... view

  • 31 Jul 2018 in Senate: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, I was saying the county government needs 120 acres for the purpose of developing a sugar factory. This is supposed to be excised from the 400 hectares of Nyangweta Forest. The county government is also ready to give out to the Ministry of Environment and Forestry 400 acres so that the Ministry can plant trees to ensure that there is forestation in Kisii County. Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, we have talked to the Sugar Directorate and it has no problem with the factory being put up in Kisii County. When the factory is put up in ... view
